Re: HOPI CORN
This dry farming method is based on faith, keen observation, Hopi science methods and what the ancestors say is a "heart full of prayer."

There is a special reverence for farmers who practice dry farming traditions because there isn't much rain or moisture to sustain these special types of crops. But by using their own research of soil analysis, natural science with wide spacing and certain proven depths of planting, Hopis are able to yield crops of corn, squash, beans, melons, peaches and sunflowers in the dry washes and valleys at the Hopi Reservation.

This is the kind of science we need.

Re: HOPI CORN
The Hopi believe that in the beginning the creator laid out four types of corn, one for each race, black, yellow, red, and white.

The Hopi being modest in all ways , waited to be last to choose and they received the smallest corn that grew in the worst conditions, close to the ground, with little water, that none of the other races wanted to take.

Corn does not grow in the wild. You can not find corn growing in the wild.

So, you have to believe the Hopi.

Your welcome. I don't believe changing the genetic code or making fuel from corn is a good idea.

We've forgotten our brothers to fuel our cars.

it would be nice to get and use 'true' corn.

somebody else can give details, but something like 90% yellow corn in US is GM (monstanto) corn.

I try to use white corn when i can, not even sure if thats 'true' anymore...

The Maya used to compare the harvesting of corn with the beheading of people, and said they were made from corn, while many creation myths have people made from clay. It's a plant worth a look.

it's funny, I see the amazing Hopi Prophecies casually referenced all the time, with little, or mostly _no_ followup honoring the source, and taking further wisdom from it. They want to point out 'wow, look how accurate it is!' and then leave it at that...

Thankfully the Hopi are patient and dutiful in their promise.

The stone tablet that the Hopi Guardian gave them has a headless man on carved into it.

It means that the leader that changes the Hopi religion will have his head cut off.

The worst thing that the white man did to the Hopi was send him to school, change his language, gave them new names, and make them dependent on easy comforts.

Most of the old traditionalists that did not go to school have passed away now. Things are changing. Lessons lost.

Their agreement or promise was to share, when the 'time' came and people asked for it.

I think there are and will be some elders or knowledge keepers around to fulfill their mission when the approaching time comes.

Re: HOPI CORN
Here's what Frank Water wrote in the Book of the Hopi about corn being of two natures in 1963:

With the pristine wisdom granted them, they understood that the earth was a living entity like themselves. She was their mother; they were made from her flesh; they suckled at her breast. For her milk was the grass upon which all animals grazed and the corn which all animals grazed and the corn which had been created specially to supply food for mankind. But the corn plant was also a living entity with a body similar to man's in many respects, and the people built its flesh into their own. Hence corn was also their mother. Thus they knew their mother in two aspects which were often synonymous-as mother Earth and the Corn Mother.

I know we are on the same side on this...

but, the way I see it..
Although much much land was wrongfully taken, there is a greater balance in the long view, the evil mans' ways and behavior has small impact on the long view, they will, as will we all, answer for their choices, and their influence will be tempered. But there was and is opportunity for a Hopi or any man to follow 'his path', even in their current environment, as many still do, by honoring the ancient traditios.

Many many temptations are presented to us all, only the strong can eventually prevail over these temptations, and stay true to 'his path'.

Great video. I like the part about plants having families, sharing and helping each other.

That's Hopi talk if I ever heard it.

Thanks.
