Re: HOPI CORN
Thank you, OP. Very interesting about the spacing of the plants.

I'm sure that the nanny state social enineers would vehimently object to the jobs being divided by sex. No doubt, they'd call the Hopi "sexist".

Re: HOPI CORN
I think corn is the only food that is eaten by fish, birds, insects and mammals, alike. I might be wrong but I believe it is the only food that feeds all living things.

Re: HOPI CORN
Cultivation of corn has been found at the foot of the Andes dating back 20,000 years.

I was invited to Hopi to partake of a corn roast by a Soyal priest, we went to his corn field, he was very funny, told some great jokes and stories. He took some young corn and soaked it in some water then we just threw it in the fire, after a while we ate it and it was the sweetest corn I have ever had to this day.

It's amazing to see rows and rows of corn growing right out of what is nothing more than sand. My favorite is a pudding that is made for weddings (the name escapes me) corn is roasted then ground in to a fine powder, water added and then it's rolled up in to mash until it sticks together in large balls, very sweet and tasty!!

Thanks for sharing this with people!!

Re: HOPI CORN
I think it is called "somiviki" and it is usually tied up in corn husk like a tamale for the children. It comes in brown or gray and is served with "nyoqwivi" or corn and meat cooked together. Good stuff.

I don't think there is a place on earth at this time where you can find corn growing in the wild. It doesn't happen.

If there was corn growing near the Andes 20,000 years ago it was before the last great flood 12,500 years ago, or as the Hopi and Mayan would say, the last time that humans populated the world or the last world and planted corn.

The Hopi do not believe you can own the land. This is a lesson we might all learn. Different clans get to use the land closer to the village than other clans but no one person owns the land. Just a thought.

Re: HOPI CORN
Nyoqwivi the best stew in the world, I love it! A good friend of mine and I use to go to Hopi to work on the Leaders (traditional) he is a Holistic Chiropractor, we have been very close with them for many years and still have close ties to the ones that are left, (not many). Thank you for spreading the information you do, it's well needed!
