Anyone with a basic interest and understanding about what is going on in the gulf understands that BP are f***ed. What was the most interesting thing was why "they" were prepared to "bet the company" on such an appallingly misguided venture in the first place. Why they did not stop when thing started going wrong (the well was a nightmare from the word go), and why they didn't fit a decent safety valve.

Conspiracies and sabotage aside, BP must have been mad. Now it's time for Shell and Exxon (Standard Oil) to suck them dry of their decent assets.

What are BP to do? God knows! If they are lucky and get it right, they will be broken up to an irrelevance. If they get it wrong, heaven help the lower east coast, and anywhere in tidal and air circulation.
