User ID: 1045970 United States 07/23/2010 08:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just heard on CNN that the shear is weakening and after Bonnie passes over Florida and gets into the Gulf there is a chance that it will start to grow stronger. Keep your eyes open. With the Gulf 7 degrees warmer than usual, that thing could blow up huge very quickly. Mark 13:20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days. “Things fall apart; the center cannot hold.” Yeats |

It is like a ghost hurricane leading and guiding Bonnie. It is what is keeping her from growing huge. What I am seeing is it pulling Bonnie into itself as well as that disturbance in the lower Yucatan that was in the process of development. Didn't someone have a vision of three storms merging it one huge Hurricane that filled up the Gulf and headed for Pensacola? I heard some discussion on Lightgate about that recently. They said when you see that happening, its time to... |

Sul-americano User ID: 643866 Brazil 07/23/2010 10:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This tropical storm could bring this oil up - as tropical storms and hurricanes usually do with deeper cold water - and with it clouds of methane gas that will move toward the Gulf shore and kill a lot of people. I really don't know the science on this and welcome any reader to correct me, but I suppose that the oil "lake" deep under the Gulf waters contains a lot of methane gas dissolved at pressure, and that as the oil rises toward the ocean's surface, and lower pressures, the gas will bubble out of solution. At this momment the only thing that can be done is hoping for this not to happen, because it's too late for a mass evacuation. |

Sul-americano User ID: 643866 Brazil 07/23/2010 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | BP has breached a massive high pressure bubble of methane that can no longer be sealed by any means. The massive amounts of methane will eventually escape into the atmosphere, rise to concentrations of 5%, at which point lighting will ignite the gas causing monstrous explosions that will kill millions. Think air-fuel bombs of the type the Russians used to incinerate Grozny, only on a MUCH LARGER SCALE. |

(OP) User ID: 1045282 United States 07/23/2010 11:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.wunderground.com] HURRICANE CENTRAL Tropical Storm Bonnie spun up Thursday near the Bahamas, putting the Gulf of Mexico on alert as it was expected to pass through the straits between Cuba and Florida on Friday. The National Hurricane Center's official track forecast has Bonnie, the Atlantic hurricane season's second named storm, reaching the Louisiana coast sometime Sunday, likely still as a tropical storm. On the hurricane center's projected track, Bonnie is due to cross part of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, but the storm was not expected to generate a large enough surge to drive large quantities of oil inland. However, late Thursday, federal official ordered ships to evacuate the Gulf oil spill site ahead of Bonnie. Although forecasters struggle with predicting intensity changes in tropical systems, all of the models used by meteorologists were consistent in forecasting that Bonnie would not become a hurricane by reaching sustained winds of 74 mph. Nevertheless, as Gulf waters are warming to their peak levels at this time of year, forecasters could not rule out a surprise strengthening by the system as it crosses the Gulf of Mexico Friday and Saturday. They also said it was possible, but not likely, Bonnie could follow a more westerly course, toward the upper Texas coast Last Edited by RTS on 07/23/2010 11:35 AM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 970323 United States 07/23/2010 03:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Tropical Storm Bonnie hits Fla., nears oil spill msnbc.com news services 1:51 PM EST July 23, 2010 Two rigs drilling relief wells at BP's Gulf of Mexico oil leak prepared to move out and authorities were closing flood barriers protecting New Orleans as Tropical Storm Bonnie struck Florida and headed for the spill zone. The storm, packing 40-mph winds, hit Miami-Dade County at about 11 a.m. ET Friday, according the National Hurricane Center, which is in Miami. It was expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico later in the day. Federal authorities said they were closing the flood control structures that protect New Orleans. The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority said persistent easterly winds had caused water levels to rise a foot at the Bayou Bienvenue gauge in eastern New Orleans, triggering the decision. The authoritity urged boaters outside the structures to return to port or be caught outside protected areas. Transocean spokesman Guy Cantwell said the rigs were pulling riser pipes associated with drilling from the sea and "preparing to move." The interruption could delay the first relief well's target date of mid-August to intercept and kill the leak to late August, according to retired Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, the top U.S. official overseeing the spill response. Cantwell said nonessential workers have been evacuated from both rigs as a precaution. BP spokesman Steve Rinehart said all ships and rigs at the site were expected to move Friday. Kent Wells, BP's senior vice president of exploration and production, said Thursday that of all the ships and rigs at the spill site, the relief well rigs needed the most time to disconnect and move. Two other rigs that had been capturing oil before a cap shut in all the flow last week - Helix Energy Solutions' Helix Producer and Q4000 - "have slightly lower tee times," Wells said. Late Thursday, Allen ordered that all ships and vessels disconnect and move out of Bonnie's path. Cap stays on A cap on the wellhead will remain sealed while vessels are gone.
