Agree magnesium is huge and most cal/mag supplements don't have enough as it should be 1:1.
Anyway I'm starting to think many vitamins are over rated. A meal with broccoli and say some canned salmon with bones is a way healthier and better calcium supplement than some pills.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1036778Yes eating it from the source is better than supplementation if you can eat enough of it, every day! Most people cannot, and since our mineral content of the soil in the US has degraded almost 80% from what it was back in the early 1900's when the levels for mineral needs were determined, most people are not going to get enough vitamins and minerals from their food, even if they grow their own unless they've amended their soils and have yearly soils testing done.
Also, there are folks like me who are allergic to some foods, Broccoli being one for me, so I don't eat it.
Supplements are helpful and necessary in the world we live in and Big Pharma KNOWS this.. so do those who encourage and promote Eugenics.
And yes, Magnesium is also very important... Actually having a good mineral balance is very important for everyone because it is the minerals in your body that promotes the detox effect which happens every night (research the Krebs Cycle).
IF you can afford it, take minerals that are Chelated; meaning they are bound to a protein which will get them into your bloodstream and guarantee that they will not bind to a plant fiber and be washed away down the elimination tract...
