Farm work is not all that blissful. I grew up on a farm and hated it. If I had to be forced to work on a farm, I guess I'd have to just shoot myself. And if you're talking forced communalization, it didn't work in China - people starved on those communes, they didn't produce enough food. Private farms produce more than enough food to feed the whole country.
There are a lot of communes set up that are voluntary, but strangely enough, most of them don't use their land to grow food, they take vans into town and purchase their food at grocery stores. They could grow their own food, but it's too hard work and there are easier ways to make money to support the commune.
