Why? Should someone skis and season pass be seized so we can all have fun skiing? Why should some groups be punished for making a good spending choice instead of a bad choice? This is why "hording" is bullshit. Someone wisely chose to buy some extra food just in case and then some other asshole spends their extra cash on monster truck week and beer and magazines. WHY should one person make up for the foolishness of another? BTW, the farmland is mostly subsidized for the state for itself. if anyone IS hording it's them. This is our food and they use it as a bargaining tool in 3rd world toilets to fuck around with petty tyrants. See: Africa. Joseph Stalin would be proud OP. ... and he only starved several hundred thousand Russians to death with government run farms. "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 475872He said that farmland should be siezed by the state and turned into communal collective farms. Your friend is a Communist idiot. The reason only 5 percent of people own farmland is because almost all other farms were driven out of business by liberal, big government interference and turned into housing tracts, highways, airports and subdivisions. Most of the farmers who are left are struggling to get by. The other 95 percent are city and burb dwellers who sit on their fat ass all day playing Wii and Xbox and think their food magically appears in the grocery store. Those idiots wouldn't lift a finger to plow up fields, plant crops and harvest the food when it's ready. And you wonder why John Titor spoke of a civil war between country dwellers and city people. When the nuke war happens in 2019, country dwellers will win by default when all the ungrateful, lazy city dwellers are vaporized. |

There are a lot of communes set up that are voluntary, but strangely enough, most of them don't use their land to grow food, they take vans into town and purchase their food at grocery stores. They could grow their own food, but it's too hard work and there are easier ways to make money to support the commune. |

I think there are many people who are just as passionate about this. First it's the farmland, next second homes and investment property and after that no one will be able to own their home, everything will belong to those in power. |
