I have the coconut oil. Is the Avocado oil a good oil for this diet?? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36998602 I also bought some avocado oil yesterday. I wonder if its just as good as coconut oil? Anyone have the answer to this? ________________ “Have not I commanded thee? Since beginning the diet 2 years ago, my life is vastly changed for the better. Energy is much better, no afternoon drowsiness, I've lost weight (which I'd given up as impossible) and I'm calmer and happier. The only things I've kept are coffee, chocolate, and a rare glass of red wine. No question this is the way to go. |

Congrats to you. 4 yrs. next month for me. This is not just a diet, it is a way of eating for life. Can't even count the ways this diet has improved my overall health. I'm currently down now to only 14 pounds from my goal. This is partly due to starting this diet 2 days ago and now having lost another 2 pounds! Maybe this will break the stall that I've been on for quite awhile now. Yesterday I had a high fat meal and never felt hungry for several hours. I felt I had to force myself to eat! I hope this keeps up! ________________ “Have not I commanded thee? Quoting: Sc0rp10n 1062121It's only hard to begin with .... once the body switches over it gets easier. I can't imagine ever eating more than 20 gm of carbs a day again. I never crave them and hardly ever feel hungry. I try to eat 5 medium sized meals a day just to keep my system ticking over. Many thanks, v interesting indeed! I'm a 6 foot bloke and I just started the Atkins 2 weeks ago and have dropped from a disgusting (too much beer!) 293 lbs to 278, stalled on 278 the last 3-4 days tho, weird. I have had the flu-like symptoms for 2 weeks too, as you say I think it is withdrawl from the way I was eating - weird thing is my skin on face has gone a bit spotty, dunno if it is too much olive oil or what, I'm thinking I may be getting rid of toxinds as Im eating much more healthily. I am VERY interested in your ratios tho, will check out the links. What will confuse me tho is tring to work out how much everything weighs in grams, is the only solution buying a scale and weighing everything? Gonna be impractical eating out, LOL! It does bring on a detox, and if you change pretty radically, embedded toxins will flush out quicker, making you feel sick, like the flu, and can bring on acne outbreaks for sure. That stuff will pass, though it may take a while. The bright side of this is your body is signaling that something is happening! You are cleansing out your insides successfully! KEEP GOING! YAY, YOU!!! |

Just a question - I would like to gain overall weight, muscle, and lose some belly fat (being thin but still building up belly fat really really sucks). At the moment, I am (like OP describes) eating mostly fat, a lot of proteins and little carbs (mostly nuts, vegetables etc.)), will that help me in the long run with my goal? I'm kind of afraid to lose muscle while exercising, mainly because I see a lot of people strongly recommending eating carbs before exercise for glycogen synthesis. Any advice on this? |

Hope you are all well. Still on the plan, with the odd slip, but now 6 years and going strong. Still the best way to lose weight and keep it off, actually the only way ... it has truly saved my life! It's poison for the body and will contribute to weight gain in a big way. Lose the sweet tooth. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18847154 Actually sugar and carbs are the same damn thing. Doesn't matter whether refined, low Gi, whole, or whatever crap name they come up for it. It is all about Glucose and Fructose - sugar is 50/50. Starch becomes glucose within a few minutes in the body. Glucose is bad, Fructose is worse. If you want a slow, dragged out, painful death then by all means follow the advice of the Government, nicely written up for them by a bunch of scientists paid huge research grants by pharmaceutical companies who clean up on your misery and pain. I have tried to warn people, but I am no angel. I have 30% of my pension plan invested in pharmaceutical company shares. Last year they grew 30%. Year on year they are over 20%. I can warn people, but I know they would rather listen to the "experts". Oh well, I may as well have a comfortable, as well as healthy, retirement if the sheep won't listen and won't see the evidence of their own eyes. Oh well ..........
