Re: If you want to be thin and stay thin (and avoid Metabolic Syndrome), then you have to eat high fat
Hi everyone! I gained 10 pounds non-stop eating goodies from Halloween through Christmas! I now have a total of 25 pounds to lose to get to my ideal weight. I can't believe I made such a pig of myself, but now I'm ready to buckle down and get serious!

I'm planning to re-read this thread in its entirety and start right away. I'm also planning to restrict calories every other day. I'm still planning to eat more fats and eat low carb but I've found that now I'm 60, my metabolism is so slow, even eating this way, I only lose 1 pound each week. I'm thinking if I restrict calories to 500 every other day, it might boost it to 2 lbs a week like I use to accomplish when I was younger.

One way I've found to cut down the calories and keep to the 500 a day, is to have coffee with a little cream and a teaspoon of grassfed butter with a little cinnamon. It tastes great and I find it keeps hunger pains away for a good 4 hours or so!

Happy New Year everyone!

Why? The rules don't change. Eat very high fat (80%), low protein (15%) low to no carbs (30 grams max). Be very strict on the carbs. This might be named better as a low to no sugar diet. Carbs = sugar in your metabolism. You are reducing to eliminating sugars of any kind from the diet.

Thanks! What you suggested is what I decided in the long run to do. I've lost around 12 pounds since I wrote this. What I'm doing now is intermittent fasting along with the high fat, low carb and also a lower protein diet. I only eat during a 6 hour window each day and fast the rest.

By keeping the fat count high, I'm not hungry during my fasting hours. It's working! cheer I only have around 10 pounds to lose to reach my goal!

Re: If you want to be thin and stay thin (and avoid Metabolic Syndrome), then you have to eat high fat
This diet works and keeps on working. Went from size 12 to size two in 2010 following this thread's information religiously. Now almost 6 years later and still size two. Not so strict anymore as I was the first year or two, but I am very active physically and as small as I care to be. Anyhow get past the groggy grouchy third week of the diet and you are home free.

I don't care what size you are, on this diet you will be amazed to see the old person you were in your youth return. The media is starting to report on good fats and the terrible health consequences of high carb, low fat diets. Use the nu-salt if you get muscle cramps, and add coconut oil to a bit of chocolate or coffee to get those last fat grams in. Don't drain fat from ground beef or bacon.

Lots of helpful advice on this thread. Wish I knew how the rest of the folks that were originally on here are doing all these years later. I wonder how many, like me, threw their fat clothes away years ago and never looked back.

I have tired this way of eating before and it makes my joints feel great, my problem is it depletes my serotonin levels in my brain. can someone tell me how to stop this, it make my mind feel like it is going to explode until I eat carbs. Also I get very angry when I get off of the carbs.

The 5-HT7 & 5-HT2A receptors (and probably many others lol) are known to enhance cellular excitation (calcium influx), promoting metabolic derangement (with dysphoria/anxiety through dynorphin/cAMP/CREB).

This thread is full of such good information.

For anyone still struggling or wanting to take this to the next level-- look up zero carb zen.

I'm having my best success losing weight with no dairy and only high fat meat and beef and plain water.

Also fasting.

Im happy to bump this thread again! I didn't know it was even here until I punched in 'high fat' in the search bar.

It works. Oh wow does it ever work! I have been on this diet for 7 weeks and lost 26 pounds. The carbs I eat are in my veggies.(10-15g a day) I eat bacon, cream cheeses, cheddar, burgers without buns, brisket, pk chops, coconut oils, butter, olive oils, tons of greens and no fruit pastas or breads(white stuff). I was a sugar addict. I don't miss it at ALL. My 'sweet tooth' is GONE! I never would have believed it. I thought I couldn't get over it, but I did it and it took a few weeks to really stop all cravings.

I still have more weight to lose, but it's easy because I'm never very hungry. That's probably the easiest part of all. When my friend told me about all this, I thought she was nuts. Then I did my homework and said what the hell, might as well. Im really glad I did. I don't cheat because I have no desire to cheat. Fat keeps ya full!

I've struggled with food my whole life.. I go up and down 50-70 pounds on the scale every few years.

I have found it impossible to gain weight eating High Fat Near Zero Carb. It's like a miracle.

Having said that, I took up running 6 months ago and found I do better endurance wise with higher carbs.

Even being Keto-Adapted I found my endurance lacking, but I felt great in every other way eating Ribeyes and Bacon and Bulletproof coffee.

it's got no carbs, so yeah sure. But it's not a diet, it's a way of eating you sustain for a looooong time if not the rest of your life.

I do mingle my high fat food with occasional carbs, just like some nice unhealthy stuff now and then, but always compensate after that. Feel really fit and healthy.

Pretty much, add cream to it, tho. The key is fat>>>protein>carbs. I haven't eaten anything else than above ground vegetables with cheese, eggs, mayonaise, bacon, fatty meats, fatty fish, chicken with mayo, cofee and tea with stevia and cream, and has worked like clockwork. I am now afraid of not being eating enough fat!!!

I went to the doctor on Monday for a check up, and found out I weighed the most I ever have! I gained 19 pounds from Covid 19 lockdown! And I was already 20 pounds overweight. Started this diet immediately on Tuesday and have already dropped 2 pounds in 2 days, which is mostly water I'm sure. Only 36 more pounds to go...but I am determined.

I lost 20 lbs with no carbs no flour no potatos before house arrest(c19LD) gained 10 back through the tomfoolery, it was the 10 pints of ice cream and three bags of cookies. You got to cut out flour potatos and sugar.. I eat red meat and butter. Here is what you need to know.. your body burns fat off before it starts burning carbs off. so do not eat carbs. I think bodies run better on fat.. I eat butter cos I like it and do not like other fake fats. stay away from hydrolyzed things. peace

Now I am only 3 lbs away from the weight before lockdown, and have exclusively been eating red meat and vegetables only some fruit
