What quantity of protein recommended for this type of diet?
I am believer in paleo / low carb natural real food but hear different opinions on amount of protein. Some say eat all the protein you desire (be naturally self-regulating) others say limit protein (use a formula based on your weight) because protein in excess of your daily cellular repair needs cause some metabolic problems.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 810909 No more than 30% of your calories a day should come from protein. Most people need about 1g of protein for every kilo of their ideal weight. My ideal weight is about 70-72kg so I aim for about 70-75g. If I exceed that without doing exercise then I find that my weight creeps up towards the 80kg mark! Very interesting indeed and I think this is because excess protein is turned into glucose by the liver and if not used then it causes insulin spikes - in the presence of insulin you stop processing fat for energy and start storing it.
