During the night most of the time is spent with family, followed by lots of prayer and meditation towards God. Many of my Muslim freinds drink alcohol but they will abstain from it during the whole month of Ramadan (day and night). Finally, a true Muslim will not go crazy at breakfast and eat alot (granted that many do) but accoridng to Islamic scripture it is better to eat just enough to satisfy hunger.

Where did you get your info that most Muslims dont do it anymore? its not as harsh as you might imagine. people fast with the intention of demonstrating that they are willing to forsake all their selfish desires (sexual, hunger, thirst, etc...) for God alone and this gives an incredible amount of strength.

I know what you mean but at the same time did you look at the mosques and all the people praying for hours on end?

i have lots of muslim friends and its the same in the west . the old folks still doing it strict , but the younger generations arnt so devoted annymore . same with the church more old folks than young people .

Im a young person myself and while I see what you're talking about you can't generalise as a whole. There are still alot of faithful young Muslims in the world. I can tell you that in my College in Egypt at least 70-80% of the Muslims there fast the whole month. And im talking about a western very liberal university.
