In limited short-term inhalation studies conducted in rats, mice, rabbits,
dogs, guinea pigs and monkeys (6, 18–20), the profile of effects was similar,
with hematological effects in rats observed at lowest concentrations (i.e., at
86 ppm or 415 mg/m3) and effects on the spleen and kidney at higher levels
(6, 18, 19). In the only dermal study identified, hematological effects were
observed in rabbits repeatedly administered 180mg 2-butoxyethanol/kg body
weight per day (21).
