Because i'm too lazy to actually walk from Location A to Location B to get a feel for it, i was able to 'walk' most of the way using Google street view.

This seemed like a good idea, in case it we make a bee-line from A to B. Recognizing roads, creeks, and mountain tops might be the only way to navigate when SHTF.

Good idea.

Ultimately if you do have to relocate it'll be in one direction. Know which direction that is and how to i identify it if a compass is not a available.....make a compass available!

Yeah, i was thinkin' there might be an instance where a compass isn't any help; nor moss, etc.

Some things will have to be offered up to The Lord. But, i do believe the Universe wants us to use our noggins' and try...

Hey Rex - do you have a link to a good online resource for edible Hawaiian plants? With pictures? I haven't been able to find one yet.

1) Are you in a "safe place" given the distribution and nature of the people around you?

Yes.

2) Do you have a source of clean water when the tap stops working?

Yes, from my neighbors.

3) Do you have a reasonable store of emergency food?

Yes, from my neighbors.

They've got a lot of fat on them.

That's right - you're in Hawaii as well - Big Island?

I forgot about the hibiscus, they're everywhere. Haven't found any macnuts nearby. I'm on the edge of 190 acres of raw, wild land. On one of my hikes, I found the remains of ancient terraces so there has got to be wild taro and other edibles nearby.

You probably are already aware but taro has to be prepared to avoid mouth and throat irritation.

Like an above poster who had to move from a familiar territory, I had everything set in Florida -- including taro plants -- but now I'm in an alien environment and not comfortable with the water situation where I'm at now.
