It is sad how few people will consider what an Indian says because he is an Indian.
**The Term "Indian" Is A "White Man's Term" .... Of Which This Is Saying .... "Red Skinned Savages/Killers" !!
**True "Native People(s)" Did Not Use This Word To Describe Themselves .... And Called Themselves Of Their People .... By Their "Clan Names/Identity" .... And Of "Names" Within That Clan !!
**Those That Call Themselves "Indian" .... Of It's Use To Designate "Native People(s)" .... Either Are Not Knowing Of The Words Roots/Origins .... Or They Have Consented, Have Gave Up, To Fit In ... To "Blend In" Of A Culture(s) That Are Not Of Their Own .... In Other Words .... They Have "Sold Themselves" & Their "Spirit", Their Peoples Way/Path !!

There are many accounts of visions and prophecies across centuries of time by members of different Indigenous People who lived on Turtle Island (North America).

No actually that is not so.
I think the main reason Indians don't like the term native american is because it is our belief everyone is native to the land on which they were born, which means 99% of the whites are native americans.
We need some other pronoun for that native label to differentiate ourselves, generally speaking as a people, see what I mean?
In my case I call myself a Lakotah Indian. Its not like the "n" word, it's not technically correct either but it is what we have been called with honor and dishonor throughout the history of our interactions with your race.
Being called a Native America doesn't offend an Indian either, they see it as an attempt to be respectful based in ignorance.

By "Piecemealing", Gluing The Bits & Pieces Together In An Attempt To Recapture What Has Been Lost Of Ancient Peoples, Their Ways, Their Customs .... Essentially "Recreating Themselves" Of What They "Believe" Was How These People Were, Acted, Lived !!
**It Is No Insult To Say ... That Those Who Call Themselves "Indian" .... Have Forgotten, Or Never Really Knew, The Roots & Origins Of The Word .... & They Never Really Knew, Who Or What Their Ancient Ancestors Were ... Ones That Came Not From Terra/Earth .... But Were Brought To This World, "Relocated" As It Were, To Grow, To Survive !!
**One Example Of Such "Native" (As In "Relocated") People Are The Hopi, Who's Ancient Ancestors Were Mazarans (The World You Call "Mars") Who Were Rescued, Genetically Altered Of Lungs & Other Bodily Organs, To Assimilate, To "Breathe" The Gasses Of Terra/Earth) & To Tolerate The Energies, Radiations Found There, & Coming From Space !!
**Those Called "Navajo", Their Ancestors Were Also Not From Terra/Earth .... Of Another World/System !! .... Who's World Would Be Destroyed When Their Sun/Star Changed/Evolved, Another Cycle Of Growth .... What Is Called "Nova" There, Though Simply, Evolving, Changing Into A Different/New Form !!
