Lightning hits or comes from the ground a lot in my area.

I do not know why. But many times, the only clap from a storm seems to come near my house. /or from the area of my house. Most lightning is from the ground up. Not from the sky down.

If I remember correctly. But a near neighbor (old timer) said one time that the area is a magnet for lightning. Do you know why this is so?
