DEVELOPING: A manhunt is underway for a gunman who allegedly fired shots at his girlfriend before fleeing the scene in a suburb of Washington, D.C., police said Tuesday.

A manhunt is underway for a man who allegedly fired a shot from a high-powered rifle in the 6400 block of Rock Forest Drive. The man targeted his ex-girlfriend, Montgomery County Police say.

Two Montgomery County schools -- Walter Johnson High School and Tilden Middle School -- remain on a Code Blue because of the manhunt. A Code Blue requires all students to be accounted for and under supervision. School doors are locked.

The schools are in Bethesda, a suburb northwest of DC.
