Life on this Earth Just Changed: The North Atlantic Current is Gone. Gulf Stream & Atlantic Conveyor Shut Down
Life on this Earth Just Changed:
The North Atlantic Current is Gone
bonghit

Satellite data establishes that the North Atlantic Current (also called the North Atlantic Drift) no longer exists and along with it the Norway Current. These two warm water currents are actually part of the same system that has several names depending on where in the Atlantic Ocean it is. The entire system is a key part of the planet's heat regulatory system; it is what keeps Ireland and the United Kingdom mostly ice free and the Scandinavia countries from being too cold; it is what keeps the entire world from another Ice Age. This Thermohaline Circulation System is now dead in places and dying in others.

This 'river' of warm water that moves through the Atlantic Ocean is called, in various places, the South Atlantic Current, the North Brazil Current, the Caribbean Current, the Yucatan Current, the Loop Current, the Florida Current, the Gulf Stream, the North Atlantic Current (or North Atlantic Drift) and the Norway Current.

The thermohaline circulation is sometimes called the ocean conveyor belt, the great ocean conveyor, or the global conveyor belt.

It is a university level physics experiment to use a tub of cool water and inject a colored stream of warm water into it. You can see the boundary layers of the warm water stream. If you add oil to the tub it breaks down the boundary layers of the warm water stream and effectively destroys the current vorticity . This is what is happening in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Atlantic Ocean.

The entire 'river of warm water' that flows from the Caribbean to the edges of Western Europe is dying due to the Corexit that the Obama Administration allowed BP to use to hide the scale of the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Disaster. The approximately two million gallons of Corexit, plus several million gallons of other dispersants, have caused the over two hundred million gallons of crude oil, that has gushed for months from the BP wellhead and nearby sites, to mostly sink to the bottom of the ocean. This has helped to effectively hide much of the oil, with the hopes that BP can seriously reduce the mandated federal fines from the oil disaster. However, there is no current way to effectively 'clean up' the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, which is about half covered in crude oil. Additionally, the oil has flowed up the East Coast of America and into the North Atlantic Ocean, and there is no way to effectively clean up this 'sea bottom oil'.

It is likely, based on numerous reports, that the oil is still flowing in massive amounts from multiple places on the seabed floor. This effectively means, that even if we had the technology in place to somehow clean up the free flowing thick crude oil deep in the ocean, it would likely not be enough to reverse the damage to the Thermohaline Circulation System in the Atlantic Ocean.

Dr. Deagle: The evidence has come in from ROV video and other experts such as Matt Simmons, BK Lim, and Lindsay Williams and my own anonymous whistleblowers from inside the closed circle of Cameron Ironworks, Tranocean Marine , Oceaneering International. My source provided very solid info re the ROV analysis by Oceaneering engineers that the BOP Blow Out Preventer was 'modified' and never had hydraulics to close the BOP. BP knew that the field had dangerous high levels of methane, hydrogen sulphide, and pressures exceeded any valve technology as the current state of the art. The seeps continue along a fractured fault line from the Macondo well site where evidence presented by BK Lim that the only well of three that reached the abiotic batholith ocean of oil and gas was never capped or stopped and has continued to leak along the ocean floor and inject oil and gas and tar into the rock strata.

Dr Gianluigi Zangari PhD from the Frascati Institute is a Theoretical Physicist, who has worked for years with a collaborative network of scientists monitoring the Gulf of Mexico Loop Current and its contribution to the Thermohaline Current System that makes the Gulf Stream that becomes the North Atlantic Drift Current and subcurrents. After receiving a contact from a naval scientist via a regular guest on the NutriMedical Report national radio show, on Genesis Network, John Moore sent Dr. Deagle the info on Dr Zangari's work. Dr. Deagle contacted him by SKYPE and and within minutes was conversing by SKYPE to Italy with Dr Zangari re his serious analysis with data from six satellites of the May to June 12th 2010 dissolution of the Loop Current. Over the next few weeks to July 28th, with numerous interviews on The NutriMedical Report and LiveStream.com/TheNutriMedicalReportShow updates, final proof was provided that the Gulf Stream had been stopped cold at the 47th longitudinal parallel with a 10 degree Celsius ocean temperature drop, and loss of velocity and energy, so that the Gulf Stream was only able to be measured by satellite to less than one-third the way across the Atlantic ocean.

As Dr Zangari stated, this is not the butterfly effect but the 'elephant effect', and with the amount of oil released, the natural system linked as the pacemaker to world climate for millions of years, this was now gone, replaced by an artificial system with a Gulf of Mexico by late July seven degrees Celsius above normals, and totally disconnected Loop Current from the Florida current that becomes the Gulf Stream. In his reported on June 12th 2010 in a journal article, the CCAR Colorado data agreed with the NOAA and US Naval Satellites data.

This live satellite data map later altered on the CCAR servers, and he emailed that this was "to falsify" and he could not explain this fact logically. He returned to NOAA and US Naval data on the same and later dates and stated by early August that the CCAR data was no longer reliable and his conclusions was not changed in quality or quantity of the serious consequences. His conclusion that 'glaciation' at an unknown pace was inevitable from this disaster.

Almost a month ago, we broke the story that the Loop Current in the Gulf of Mexico had effectively died. We quoted Dr. Gianluizi Zangari, who first discovered the damage to the Thermohaline Circulation System:

THOR will establish an operational system that will monitor and forecast the development of the North Atlantic THC on decadal time scales and access its stability and the risk of a breakdown in a changing climate. Together with pre-existing data sets, ongoing observations within the project will allow precise quantitative monitoring of the Atlantic THC and its sources. This will, for the first time, allow an assessment of the strength of the Atlantic THC and its sources in a consistent manner and will provide early identification of any systematic changes in the THC that might occur.

These current maps you posted a link to actually verify the fact that the Atlantic conveyor seems broken; compare them with the maps in the original article via [link to newilluminati.blog-city.com] .
The current breaks apart in the id-atlantic, just as anonymous coward's 'dumbass dago' claims.
Ad hominem attacks from A.C. do little to illumine our situation.

How gratifying to see a rational discussion of a seminal issue. I too had major doubts about reports a couple of months back (at the height of the oil catastrophe) that the stoppage of the Gulf loop current would lead to wider disruptions of the Atlantic conveyor, but I kept an eye out for further data in any case. Anyone wish to discuss changes in the Atlantic current? As noted above, early snowfalls - at the height of summer - have occurred in areas one might expect to be affected by this.
As the anonymous coward points out, changes will not occur as rapidly (or in the same sequence) as The Day After Tomorrow if this scenario is accurate. It may well be that the current simply stalled, but the coming northern winter will tell the true tale; one way or another the issue needs to be investigated.
I'm gratified by recent findings that past 'mini ice ages' and maunder minimums don't affect the southern hemisphere in the same was as the northern - as I live in the land of Oz, a notable location for many heretics whose ancestors fled the hideous ructions of their northerly homelands when their 'betters' kept telling them to shut up and keep their noses to the grindstone and their eyes on the prize of atrocious uniformity.
The local Aborigines have an interesting take on all this; like many native peoples, they expect big changes, and soon.

I can tell you this...I live in the PNW...and fall fell here where I live, on August 15, 2010..between 3/5 pm...I had to lay down, because it was so hot, (it was over 90 which is hot for here), I felt exhausted but have AC in my bedroom...that was at 3 pm...when I woke up at 5pm it was over 20 degrees cooler (just shy of 70 degrees) and the air had changed from summer to fall air..and there IS most definitely a difference between the two...I don't know how it is anywhere else...just that this happened here for sure..

Re: Life on this Earth Just Changed: The North Atlantic Current is Gone. Gulf Stream & Atlantic Conveyor Shut Down
To add another bone of contention: The Gulf Stream doesn't warm Europe? Climate mythology: The Gulf Stream, European climate and Abrupt Change.
A few times a year the British media of all stripes goes into a tizzy of
panic when one climate scientist or another states that there is a
possibility that the North Atlantic ocean circulation, of which the Gulf
Stream is a major part, will slow down in coming years or even stop.
Whether the scientists statements are measured or inflammatory the media
invariably warns that this will plunge Britain and Europe into a new
ice age, pictures of the icy shores of Labrador are shown, created film
of English Channel ferries making their way through sea ice are
broadcast... And so the circus continues year after year. Here is one example.

The Gulf Stream-European climate myth:

The panic is based on a long held belief of the British, other
Europeans, Americans and, indeed, much of the world's population that
the northward heat transport by the Gulf Stream is the reason why
western Europe enjoys a mild climate, much milder than, say, that of
eastern North America. This idea was actually originated by an American
military man, Matthew Fontaine Maury, in the mid nineteenth century and
has stuck since despite the absence of proof.

We now know this is a myth, the climatological equivalent of an urban legend. In a detailed study
published in the Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society
in 2002, we demonstrated the limited role that ocean heat transport
plays in determining regional climates around the Atlantic Ocean.
Popular versions of this story can be found here, here and, in French, here.

The determinants of North Atlantic regional climates

We showed that there are three processes that need to be evaluated:

The ocean absorbs heat in summer and releases it in winter. Regions
that are downwind of oceans in winter will have mild climates. This
process does not require ocean currents or ocean heat transport.

The atmosphere moves heat poleward and warm climates where the heat
converges. In additions, the waviness in the atmospheric flow creates
warm climates where the air flows poleward and cold climates where it
flows equatorward.

The ocean moves heat poleward and will warm climates where it releases
heat and the atmosphere picks it up and moves it onto land.

Using observations and climate models we found that, at the latitudes of
Europe, the atmospheric heat transport exceeds that of the ocean by
several fold. In winter it may even by an order of magnitude greater.
Thus it is the atmosphere, not the ocean, that does the lion's share of
the work ameliorating winter climates in the extratropics. We also
found that the seasonal absorption and release of heat by the ocean has a
much larger impact on regional climates than does the movement of heat
by ocean currents.

Seasonal storage and release accounts for half the winter temperature
difference across the North Atlantic Ocean. But the 500 pound gorilla
in how regional climates are determined around the Atlantic turned out
to be the Rocky Mountains. Because of the need to conserve angular
momentum, as air flows from the west across the mountains it is forced
to first turn south and then to turn north further downstream. As such
the mountains force cold air south into eastern North America and warm
air north into western Europe. This waviness in the flow is responsible
for the other half of the temperature difference across the North
Atlantic Ocean.

Hence:

Fifty percent of the winter temperature difference across the North
Atlantic is caused by the eastward atmospheric transport of heat
released by the ocean that was absorbed and stored in the summer. Fifty percent is caused by the stationary waves of the atmospheric flow. The ocean heat transport contributes a small warming across the basin.

The seasonal ocean heat storage and pattern of atmospheric heat
transport add up to make winters in western Europe 15 to 20 degrees C
warmer than those in eastern North America. A very similar process
occurs across the Pacific Ocean. The ocean heat transport warms the
North Atlantic Ocean and the land on both sides by a modest few degrees
C. The only place where the ocean heat transport fundamentally alters
climate is along the coast of northern Norway which would be sea
ice-covered were it not for the warm northward flowing Norwegian
Current.

The Gulf Stream and future climate change

A slowdown of the Gulf Stream and ocean circulation in the future,
induced by freshening of the waters caused by anthropogenic climate
change (via melting glaciers and increased water vapor transport into
high latitudes) or simply by warming, would thus introduce a modest
cooling tendency. This would leave the temperature contrast across the
Atlantic unchanged and not plunge Europe back into the ice age or
anything like it. In fact the cooling tendency would probably be
overwhelmed by the direct radiatively-driven warming by rising
greenhouse gases.

North Atlantic Ocean circulation and abrupt climate change

The conflation of the Gulf Stream, ocean heat transport and Europe's
climate has led to changes in ocean circulation being the reigning
theory of the cause of glacial era abrupt climate change. These abrupt
changes - the Dansgaard-Oeschger events of the last ice age and the
Younger Dryas cold reversal of the last deglaciation - are well recorded
in the Greenland ice core and Europe and involved changes in winter
temperature of as much as thirty degrees C! For the Younger Dryas it
has been proposed that the sudden release of glacial meltwater from ice
dammed Lake Agassiz freshened the North Atlantic and shut down the
overturning circulation causing dramatic regional coooling.

Only through an inflated view of the impact of ocean circulation could
it be thought that the enormous glacial era abrupt changes were caused
by changes in ocean circulation. Instead, as we have argued, changes in
atmospheric circulation regimes had to be the driver, see (Seager and Battisti,2007).
Determining how this could happen has become more of a priority now
that the geological evidence for the Lake Agassiz flood has not been
found, see (Broecker,2006).

Moving beyond the myth

It is long time that the Gulf Stream-European climate myth was resigned
to the graveyard of defunct misconceptions along with the Earth being
flat and the sun going around the Earth. In its place we need serious
assessments of how changes in ocean circulation will impact climate
change and a new look at the problem of abrupt climate change that gives
the tropical climate system and the atmosphere their due as the primary
drivers of regional climates around the world.

Re: Life on this Earth Just Changed: The North Atlantic Current is Gone. Gulf Stream & Atlantic Conveyor Shut Down
"Polish climatologist, Mikhail Kovalevski [sic] believes that if the trend continues, the climatic zones will move North and Europe will become a permafrost area for ever," Watts reports. "The Scandinavian countries are already feeling the breathing of the Arctic."

However, "NASA officials say that the global warming of the past 18 years has made the Gulfstream stronger and warmer."

And Russia? Russian meteorologists hold the middle ground, Alexander Frolov, head of the Russian Meteorological Agency says.

"The Gulfstream is powerful and is not declining; it warms up Europe, and consequently, it has a high significance for both Poland and the Scandinavian nations. But access to the heat might be restricted by the thawing of the ice and the turning of the water fresh – that is cold fresh water may appear on the surface, preventing the heat from going into the atmosphere to have an impact on the climate. We do not overestimate such a phenomenon, Frolov says.

"The country will have a normal Russian winter, perhaps not as harsh as last year, Frolov says.So there you have it. Which countries are telling the truth, which are playing politics with our lives, and which are genuinely confused?

bump

We haven't seen very many hurricanes enter the gulf in recent years.

So called "polar vortexes" kickin our asses every winter.

Now we've got a prolonged "mega drought" in the southwest.

I believe that BP oil volcano and all of the corexit they dumped into the gulf is finally catching up with us. Doom on? I'd say so.
