Re: For the TRUE Followers of Christ Our Messiah (Holiness)
I'm afraid the speaker is too hung up on outward appearance rather than the inward appearance.

I was in a church once which preached like the speaker. They were very (Independent Baptist) judgmental towards others and it was hard to see true love.

It's not wrong for a lady to adorn herself with jewelry no more than it's wrong for the speaker to ware different shirts each day which shows his taste. One can be modest in all things.

We are to be children of God and show love. I'd suggest the speaker allow the Holy Spirit give the conviction.

Defiling the temple of God is not defiled if my wife wears lipstick or wears ear rings no more than the speaker wearing a different color shirt or slacks each day. There is a certain word called "modesty". I'm afraid we have all grieved the Holy Spirit through our heart desires at times.

My father once said a certain preacher was "preaching so hard on a certain sin you would think he's guilty of that sin". Guess what! Only a month or so went by before that preacher was crying, on national TV, asking forgiveness. I'm sure you know the preachers name.

What I've learned in my Christian walk is to make sure my house is in order before pointing out wrong in others so boldly. I admit, I've got certain weakness' which makes me fear for my own salvation that I sure can not go around pointing out everybody else faults. In other words, there is grace in God...we live in the age of grace. Even though we are not to trample the Truth, we only know in part and look for that day we shall be like Him...face to face. I want to be counted in that number.

If fear preaching would save the world, I'd be right there doing it but God is love and we much show the fathers love...right?

Got about 5 minutes into it and turned it off. Though the beginning message started out good - what have you given up? - the rest did not have the feel of the Spirit at all - a lot of anger and bitterness - he was not exhibiting the very Holiness he was preaching about.

Yes...I agree it is harsh. And I don't agree with him 100%. But I still thought it was an important message. I took it as frustration and directness rather than anger and bitterness. It effected me very much in a positive way somehow.

But I can see where you are coming from. I still think some need to hear this.

I did like the "what have you given up?" question - very good to contemplate. Wish he had just stayed with that in a loving manner.

Oh well, I've been known to go off on a rant or two myself. ;)

Freedom from the evil world system is a simple matter.

Please listen to the audio file at the link provided here.
[link to www.ldrn.org]

I have listened to it a few times now...and it shakes me to the core every time...very powerful.

Let The True Believers, make this thread a light unto GLP.

Alright, I must now, unfortunately, make this stance. If you are here to troll, cause dissension, or make a disgusting mockery of my Father in Heaven, I will delete the post. If you continue, I will ban you from posting here. Sorry to be this way. I am trying to maintain a thread where anyone can come and praise, learn, and have productive discourse. There is a difference between questioning/disagreeing, and filthy ridiculous and blatant sabotage. So if your intentions are rotten, please don't waste your time.

HOLINESS!

Set yourself apart from the world...why?

Because your Father asked you to.

Leviticus 11:44

44For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Leviticus 11:45

45For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

Leviticus 19:2

2Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

Leviticus 20:7

7Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.

1 Peter 1:16

16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
 Quoting: ToyTV

surah al-ghashiya

1. Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)?
2. Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians).
3. Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allâh), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace).
4. They will enter in the hot blazing Fire,
5. They will be given to drink from a boiling spring,
6. No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant,
7. Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger
8. (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful,
9. Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islâmic Monotheism).
10. In a lofty Paradise
11. Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood,
12. Therein will be a running spring,
13. Therein will be thrones raised high,
14. And cups set at hand
15. And cushions set in rows,
16. And rich carpets (all) spread out
17. Do they not look at the camels, how they are created?
18. And at the heaven, how it is raised?
19. And at the mountains, how they are rooted (and fixed firm)?
20. And at the earth, how it is outspread?
21. So remind them (O Muhammad (SAW)) — you are only a one who reminds.
22. You are not a dictator over them —
23. Save the one who turns away and disbelieves.
24. Then Allâh will punish him with the greatest punishment.
25. Verily, to Us will be their return;
26. Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning.

Re: For the TRUE Followers of Christ Our Messiah (Holiness)
Paul talks in Romans about the evil that is in his flesh......the contstant war that is going on between the Spirit and the flesh.

He characterizes genuine Christians as being indwelt by the Holy Spirit.....which is so true.

In another passage, we as Christians are instructed not to quench the Spirit.

When you are born again....born of the Spirit (i.e. baptized by the Spirit)......you have the Spirit come inside you to live forever......but at the same time, it is also possible to "quench" the spirit because of involvement in sin.

The Spirit is within us to give us power over sin. Yet God allows us each day to make the choice......to walk in the Spirit.....or to walk in the flesh.

I have found that I really do not have much power on my own strength to resist bad thoughts, etc. Therefore, in the morning......each day......I find that the day goes much better if I ask God to fill me with the Spirit.......that the Holy Spirit would CONTROL my actions, thoughts, feelings on that particular day. This in my view is "walking in the Spirit",.......and using God's strength and power to keep my thoughts and actions pure.

On days when I forget to do this......I am much more likely to be "in the flesh"......and have bad thoughts pop in.....negative emotions, etc.

So let us choose each day to walk in the Spirit. The Spirit is there to give us power over the flesh.

Re: For the TRUE Followers of Christ Our Messiah (Holiness)
We say we know and believe that Jesus Christ, our one and only Lord and Savior, was wholly human during His earthly mission. We say we know and believe He was scourged to a bloody pulp - - - for us. We say we know and believe He took every single sin we would ever commit to the cross with Him. We say we know and believe He died - - - for us. So, why do we keep living the lives we do?!?!?

Because believing is not knowing.

To believe, one must know.

Belief is what you think to be true, faith is what you know to be true and in faith, belief is lost, but this is not the end. Because knowing is not Being, and so the third step, fruition, eclipses even faith for you no longer know the truth as something else, you are It.

This is the functional difference between belief and faith. Faith is unshakable by the nature of experience.

Most of what is written about faith in religious books miss the mark because the word itself is not understood. In modern English “faith” means believing in something for which there is no substantial proof. But the Greek word pistis, used in the New Testament, means stability in personal knowledge drawn from one’s own experience. It also means to be loyal to that knowledge by living in accordance with it. Pistis also means to be confident in our experiential knowledge. Faith cannot be “awakened” in a person by reading books, listening to discourses, or engaging in discussions. It comes only from within, from his own self. Saint Paul underlined this when he wrote that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”2 Note that he says substance and evidence. Faith is not an insubstantial idea. This is no matter of mere intellectual acceptance or emotional hope. Faith is proof that a person has experienced the reality of something; it is not a mere conviction based on reason or feeling.
 Quoting: Rex Khristos

Well, all I can say to that is - - - my belief, faith, and knowing didn't come from any book I read. It did, indeed, come from personal experience.

I also pray that all find it. I pity those who don't. Little do they realize who's influence they're under.

"To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen." Jude 25

There is non other than God, the satans (adversaries) do His bidding. They are reflections of our own potential manifested so that we may choose them not.

1 Cor3:13-15

But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person's work has any value.

Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw—

But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.
 Quoting: Rex Khristos

No, the "satans" are not "reflections of our own potential manifested." Again, personal experience.

Satan and his minions are real, actual demons and thier "job" is to keep us from God.
