The audio on the old Bugs Bunny cartoons is great they were originally made for theaters.

For the rest of my life I will never be able to hear "The Ride of the Valkyries" without hearing Elmer Fudd singing "Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit" in my head.

Economically consideration is likely the reason along with spped of production. There exists no copyright on these masterpieces. Anything written before 1922 was non copyrightable as that is when the legalese was adopted.
