That would be a slow night on this side of Houston since 2007. Good weather nights here typically would start with a few right after dark, and then a few more, sometimes as many as 7 at a time. They would hover over a couple of major intersections, one a block west of me, and the other about 3 blocks east. They would then glide at slower than bycicle speed over the roadway, back and forth for hours sometimes.
On a good night, a few would cut across their perimeter fly area and slowly glide in my direction and over my roof at 50 to 100 ft. above me.

The best times are right before a storm comes in, or right after a cold front blows through.
