Man Threatens to Kill Former President Bush

In the hours and days before Greece resident Ian Rotunno got in his 2006 Mustang and headed toward Washington, D.C. — armed with a shotgun, knives and ready to engage police, authorities allege — he apparently littered his Facebook.com page with conspiratorial musings.

"I want to punish the big wigs in washington with my own two hands, and theres a few people who've seen me obliterate a full grown pumpkin with one swoop," an Oct. 6 Facebook entry reads.

A day later, the Secret Service learned that Rotunno, 23, had asked a co-worker whether Vice President Dick Cheney was still alive, then left his job at a Gates machinery shop saying he was "grabbing my shotgun and I'm heading to Washington, D.C.," court records allege.

Federal authorities reached Rotunno by phone as he was driving through New York on Oct. 7, and he turned himself in to Owego police, court records say. A psychiatrist who later interviewed Rotunno at the St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, Steuben County, determined that he was an "immediate danger" to federal government employees, according to an affidavit from Secret Service Special Agent Joel Blackerb

Free speech is one thing. Threatening to kill someone is a whole different matter.
