Quoting: FreeDoomNo one was injured in the attack. LOL...pussies. You know, I am thinking there is an opportunity here for adventurous, unemployed American citizens to travel south of the border and snap up these newly vacant law enforcement positions in Mexico. We'll even bring our own ammo. |

The cops who resigned are the only honest ones and value there lives rather then be corrupt and take bribes and work for the cartels like most other cops do, as well as governors and mayors. These cartels gave those honest cops a chance. |

That would be 30,000 Mexicans killed, 150,000+ in jail, another 30,000 maimed -- all bad guys we are told, with few exceptions -- and countless orphans, missing, kidnapped. Do you really think we believe the official explanations? I find the whole thing surreal. Far away in the border badlands between the US and Mexico, in a US inspired, financed drug war. You say it is to fight your social problems in this country. But again this is a bogus explanation I dont believe. All smoke and mirrors at least for you all. Down here we are alot more savvy about corruption and impunity, and the forces behind it.... |

Must be nice to have someone to blame for all of your troubles...what an original strategy of rationalization! Hey!, Mexico was well on its way to resolving its problems before this drug war shit. Probably why the Mexican elite decided it was a good idea to take the US cash and get it happening, before they faced an honest to goodness uprising against their rule. So yes, it is your fault among others. You want to take it personal?, go ahead.... |

What do you suggest be done about drug dealers supplying the US market? No one has any interests in this war, who wins or loses. And military or paramilitary forces replacing civil govt, ie martial law, makes ordinary militancy impossible. However, as soon as they let up on this irrelevant war the underlying social problems of Mexico will boil over, yet again.... |

Everyone interested in this should read "Murder City," I can't remember the author's name, but it's fascinating, grim, and prescient. It reads like a Cormac McCarthy novel, but it's not fiction. This is only the beginning -- this s*** is heading north every day. And to blame it on cartels or corrupt government is simplistic. That's true but it's only a symptom of the root problem -- dire poverty, not created, but exacerbated by NAFTA and globalization. As for securing the border against this -- forget it. Ain't possible. Anyone watching "Border Wars"? Another really fascinating book which touches on this subject is "God's Middle Finger." Again, I can't remember the author. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1142016 United States 10/29/2010 04:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I believe that the people on both sides need to point the finger away from eachother & start pointing it at those responsible for this mess. It seems like in mexico, like what happened in the election of 2000 here, happens alot more than we realize down there. Shit, it probably happens over here too alot more than the general public realize. The drug cartels in mexico kind of reminds me of another political base. Just like here, where they want you to believe that the democrats & republicans are totally 2 different entities, they are really just on the opposite side of the same coin. You have to answer the question, how does the mexican government benefit from this drug war? Same with the U.S government. Besides having a bunch of money thrown at them to fight this war, which I believe maybe not even a quarter of it actually makes it to the frontlines, the U.S benefits by keeping the mexican people down in the gutter just like the minorities in this country. God forbid a neighbor of ours becomes a contender on the big stage. How about oil? How much is oil affected in the mexican region because of this drug war? Is the U.S. government getting a discounted price because of all the violence going on down there? Im just saying, there are usually other underlying factors that are going on in a situation like this. Destabilizing countries seems to be something that the U.S. is very good at. Can anyone say C.I.A? What about the D.E.A oor the W.T.O? |
