Been taking some USDA money, maybe just an irrigation allowance or stipend? Then you are known and digested in terms of production and stores.

Way easier to transport 500 oz of Gold than $700,000 worth of Wheat or whatever. Talking 100,000 bushels; maybe a bit less, but unless you own a couple tractor trailers, your "wealth" isn't transportable.

Most likely, your "wealth" will just be confiscated. Oh, you'll get a Govt Credit or voucher, but not like it will buy you anything...


Smart to hedge your bets. Do you write options or insure your crop? Sell 20% of your crop that's in storage and buy some portable wealth. Gold is the ticket. Worth about $22K per 16 oz coins. A money belt or two and you will be set. Sell another 10% and buy silver dimes and half-dollars; bury those on your place. Why chance losing everything to those who may come with force of arms and have right to seize your property "for the good of the Nation or people"?

Might just happen that you'll wish you had some options.
