No warm bed to sleep in, no nice hot meals three times a day, no movies and phone calls home, etc. And the sailors in WW2 didn't have it easy either. And a lot of them got drafted and had no choice, you volunteered, so quit whining. Nobody has to kiss your ass because you volunteered to serve.
