You don't know much, do you? Blatant product placement has been going on since the day television began, and it used to be a LOT worse than it is now. The Flintstones, for example, used to shill for Winston cigarettes (not just in commercials, but in bits embedded right into the plots of the shows).

Great post OP. They are unashamedly blatant aren't they?

Here in the UK product placement on commercial television was given the green light recently (some point within the last couple of years IIRC), not sure if its in place yet or not, I haven't noticed anything quite as blatant as these though, and am worried if it goes that way!

On the other hand though, if they're anything like these, then for sheer comedy value it might be fun!

Generally true, especially over there. We pay a compulsory TV licence fee over here (almost £150 per annum), and have some non-commercial channels funded by this fee (various BBC channels) and they are advertisement free and have quite strict regulations about promotion, and brand names and what have you, still they're often getting their knuckles wrapped over it.

Behind the Screens: Hollywood goes Hypercommercial

my favorite part of the movie comes in at 4:46 where he talks about the reverse psychology they try to play with product placement in movies, check it out to get the idea of what i'm trying to say.
