I'm Gonna quit smoking Cold Turkey!!! Any advice??

Plus Gold Turkey smoke is very greasy. IT gets all over the curtains and walls.

My advice is to buy 20 dollars worth of gum. A few sticks of lip balm. You need to keep your mouth busy for the first few days at least.

lol @ the posts on here already..I did buy gum,but my kid got into it..he had the biggest bubble I ever saw blown all over his face..loaded on the chapstick..gotta dig it outta the BOB..

I quit smoking by replacing it with a good habit. When I had the urge to smoke I did 25 push-ups.. It made me feel good to do something with a positive impact that had tangible positive results as well.

Nah, buy $50 worth of herbs, take two hits and forget you ever smoked, every time...

I quit 12 year ago. I'm not gonna fool yah..it was hell. I finally used the patch for a month. I still get that urge to smoke sometimes but I fight it (yes, I've given in a time or two), but after the first few weeks you will feel so much better physically and mentally. Plus you will smell better and the next cigarette won't occupy your mind. Face it. If you are an addicted smoker; you are a junkie. I was. It's tough but worth it. They didn't have the E smoke around when I quit but I'd investigate it for those awful first few weeks.
If you are going to do it cold turkey ....keep your mouth full.

Wow congrats! Thanks for the support,not looking forward to the jonesing that goes with..but it will be all worth it.Beats the heck outta degrading myself,rooting through ashtrays for a butt to smoke..makes me feel like the real butt.

It is mind over matter,if I don't mind..it don't matter.

usually we confuse hunger pains for need to smoke, so drink a cup of water every time you feel an urge. Do not stuff yourself with food or beverage to curb the craving. I know you said you have breathing problems but if you could do some sort of exercise that got you breathing heavily, by the time you and your body calmed down to normal you'd feel already how much better and easier breathing is.

Every time you get urge just say, "I've been smoke free for over A YEAR now, why would i start now"?!

man i could go on for a long time giving you suggestions, i almost quit cold turkey last time i woke up (24 hours ago).

I find it very easy to quit, whoever reads this, up to 5 hours before sleep do not smoke. When you wake up you already breath soo much better, will power to stick with the quit increases with that technique.

If i had a kid i would get very upset with him if he smoked, but if i yell at him he might smoke to spite me.. i'd have to show him how much it really hurts me, even if i need to fake being all dramatically upset or even cry! No drugs for my kid, just love, learning, and plenty of discipline (but not the kind or way kids hate).

I bought one of those two weeks ago, and I haven't bought a pack of cigarettes since. I bummed two off a friend of mine, but that was it.

And I don't even use the e-cigarette thing that much either for some reason. I take a puff or two, and that's all I seem to need. When I had cigarettes, when I lit one up, I pretty much had to smoke the whole thing.

Eat black licorice...it is used as a favoring in cigarettes. Don't eat too much or out will make your blood pressure go up. Good n Plenty candy has licorice in them. Better still, just get regular black licorice.

When you crave a cigarette, get thru first three minutes to five minutes...** use a diversion to get mind off craving** . Anything to divert your mind. You can do it. Congratulated. Soon you will hate anything related to cigarettes...taste, smoke, smell.

Licorice is good also lemon drops, tic tacs, some kind of hard candy in your mouth. Keep your favorite fresh fruits around.

Take up jogging or just go for a walk when the urge hits you if you can. Put all the ashtrays away. Air out your house and clothes.

The suggestion for putting aside the money you would have spent on cigs is good.

Don't rule out using a patch for awhile. Many people have had good results with them.

Brush your teeth anytime you can't stand it. Works!

Stay away from people who smoke.

Hangout with people who don't smoke.

Count all the extra money in your pocket since you stopped wasting it on cigarettes.
