Happy Hanukkah(8 letters)/Chanukah(8): an eight-day(8) festival(8)
Today is the first full day of Hanukkah(8 letters) or Chanukah(8), it began at sunset last night. It is the eight-day(8) festival(8) that commerates Judah Maccabee, warrior son of the aged priest Mattathias, who dared to lead his small band of fighting men against the mighty Assyrians and defeat them in ~165 BC. As the legend goes, the Jews returned to purge the Jerusalem Temple of its Pagan idols including a statue of Zeus, and rededicate it to G-d. They found that there was only sacred oil enough for one day's burning of the temple lamp, yet, miracously the lamp burned eight full days. Thus began the Feast of Dedication/Feast of Lights and its 8-candle menorah(74).

Unfortunately, this story is not found in the Bible. The vast majority of Christians today don't celebrate this holiday(7,74), but shouldn't they?! Why even Y'shua(74)/Jesus(74) observed this festival...

"And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch." - John 10:22-23 (KJV)

The early Roman church leaders went out of their way to separate themselves from the Jews. The Roman Christians chose not to observe Jewish holidays and 'replaced' the Jerusalem Temple rededication festival with Christmas (they were stamping out Pagan celebrations of Saturnalia, winter solstice, and the sun-god Mithra's birth as well) and replaced the eight-day festival of Passover(8) with Easter. And let's not forget that the Romans conquered the Jews in 63 BC and destroyed their temple in 70 AD, so propaganda-wise, they chose not to remember the Dedication Festival.

We all have our agendas both on this forum and outside it. I consider myself Judeo-Christian & omni-religious. I celebrate Hanukkah & Christmas because I know that Y'shua/Jesus did and would now. Happy Hanukkah to everyone!

Re: Happy Hanukkah(8 letters)/Chanukah(8): an eight-day(8) festival(8)
Chanukah is about revolution. It is a reminder to stand up against the oppression. Especially when the nations values and politics have overcome the government of the Jewish people living in the land of Isreal. It is a time to establish a truly Torah government.

The victory of Chanuka requires pride, sacrifice and resolve. You must live its virtues not just talk about them in prayer. They are not a thing of the past they are powers of Chanukah. Compromise is a weakness that victors cannot afford. Freedom is reserved for those who fight for it. Standing up against all the odds is the Macabee way. Standing up for the Divine truth. Chanuka is a time to remember the price of victory. It is not cheap!

We can light all the Chanuka lights that we want but we must remember that the purpose of light is to cancel out darkness. We will never cancel out darkness or defeat evil all the while that we lack the commitment and resolve and the sacrifice necessary to win the day. All our Chanuka lights will be nothing but hollow and empty shells if we fail to remember what it is that they are supposed to really be.

Chanukah is a time of ever increasing light. This is seen and accomplished through the service of Chanukah which includes lighting of the “Menorah”. The main service of Chanukah is the illumination of the darkness of night with the manorah in increasing intensity from 1 to 9 lights including the ”shamash”. It was on the first night of Chanukah the 25th of kislev that Antiocos made the temple into a shrine for idolatry. This was the darkest moment when the house of GOD became a place unfit for his dwelling. This was the climax of the decent of the Jewish people led by their ”high society” as they slid down to the
depth of spiritual depravity being absorbed in the ”upper class” (Greek) values of their day, which was called HELLenism. The enemy may have stimulated the decline of Yisrael from outside yet the real enemy was within, it was ourselves. We allowed non-Torah values to infect us to the point that a Cohen Gadol (High Priest) was placed in the temple who had values opposite that of the Torah.

The enemy was within but salvation came from without and within as only a small group of Cohaniem who were living in the hills were able to bring about the spiritual redemption of our people. Reclaiming the Holy Temple, with the miracle of the oil, and the physical miraculous victory where our enemies were concurred. On Chanukah we went from the darkest darkness of our souls, spiritually and physically
captured under the dominion of strangers, yet we came to witness miracles and salvation.

THIS ONE IS VERY LONG AND DEEP

Hanukkah started at sunset tonight. The turkey is cooking in the oven, my Hanukkak candle is lit (no menorah) & I have music playing.

I love this holiday.

John 10:22-23 - 22 Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade.

Re: Happy Hanukkah(8 letters)/Chanukah(8): an eight-day(8) festival(8)
The light of Chanuchah continues forever, year upon year and its getting bright!

The Chanukah Dreidel (Dreidle)The dreidel is one of the best known symbols of Chanukah. A four-sided top with a Hebrew letter on each side, the dreidel is used to play a fun Chanukah game of chance. SHIN, HEY, GIMEL, NUN: the letters on the dreidel stand for the Nes Gadol Haya Sham, which means "A Great Miracle Happened There".

According to some historians, Jews first played with a spinning top during the rule of the Greek King Antiochus’. In Judea, Antiochus had outlawed Jewish worship, so the Jews would use a game with the spinning top as a ruse to conceal that they were secretly studying Torah.

The child’s dreidel (Hanukah spinning top), is not so simple, for it holds great secrets. Four sides corresponding to the Tetragrammaton (YHWH), but 4 sides engraved with the Hebrew Letters SHIN, HEY, GIMEL, NUN. Four letters whose numerical value add to to 358, that of Mashiach, the Messiah.

The light we light each night are to connect us to the special light of miracles available to us once a year for 8 days staring every 25th of Kislev (Sagittarius). It’s different light/energy than what’s available to us in the 8 days of Sukkot-Shemini Atzeret; and it’s different from the light available to us during the 8 days of Pesach (Passover) - Shavout; and it’s different from the energy available to us on the 8 other holidays throughout the year. In total there are 32 days of varying special Light/energy (besides the special light of Shabbat). This connects to the 32 Paths of Wisdom of the Tree-of-Life through which these various light shine unto us. These 32 Paths are “connections” of Divine energy. Each connections has many Divine names which can reveal its light. This is all taught to us in “Safer Yetzera” the Book from the Biblical patriarch Avraham.

One of the key elements of Chanukah is based on the spiritual tenet that nothing can ever be lost, once it goes from latent(potential) state to physical one it’s ever present in the universe whether we can physically see it or not. So the light of the first night, is added to the second and so forth until the 8th day when we have the light of 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8 = 36 candles.

We can note that the sum of all the Torah occurrences of the words “first” through “eighth”—echad, sheni, shlishi, reve’i, chamishi, shishi, sheve’I, and shemeni—is ( 189 times- echad +125+2+2+2+2+0+0times- shemeni) = 322 and since the sum of days (numbers) 1-8 representing all the summary Chanukah lights for the 8 days is 36, and (322 + 36) = 358 = Mashiach, the Messiah

Now regarding the Chanukah blessings on the words L’hadleek Ner Chanukah and the kavanot (meditations) that we’ve learned from the Ariza”l, the 3 first letters Lamed, Nun and Chet, spell out in 'small gematria', 3,5,8 or 358, Mashiach.

The 3 first letters Lamed, Nun and Chet of L’hadleek Ner Chanukah is the word Nachal (a holy Name that means stream or river, and also inheritance) and it has a numerical value of 88, which when aided by a kolel of 1 = 89, that of Chanukah itself.

L’hadleek plus the kolel (1) = (179 +1) = 180= (name of 72+63+45) = 180

The word for eight (8) in Hebrew is shemonah(8 letters), and a simple permutation of the letters in shemonah (ShMNH) gives us hashemen. “the oil” (HShMN), and also neshama (soul, NShMH), all of which have the numerical value of 395, that of the 5th word in the Torah, H’ShMa’im (the Heavens).

On a simple level, over the 8 nights, we’re lighting 44 candles in total including the shamesh every night, 44=(A – AH – AHY – AHY”H)=Dm (Blood in Hebrew) showing us this reaches all the way down to the lowest level of the soul in the blood as it says in the bible “the soul (Nefesh) is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11)

Re: Happy Hanukkah(8 letters)/Chanukah(8): an eight-day(8) festival(8)
Hanukkah(8 letters) or Chanukah(8) is an eight-day(8] festival(8] like Passover(8]. Ch is the transliteration of the 8th Hebrew letter. H is the 8th English letter and Hanukkah begins and ends with the 8th letter.

The Hanukkiah(9) or Chanukiah(9) is the special secular Menorah(7,74) that represents the miracle of the oil burning for 8 days with the 9th candle - the Shemash - being used to light the 8 candles. Shemash was the Babylonian Sun god.

The 7 lights of the Temple Menorah were symbolic of the Sacred 7 Luminaires - 7 Classical Planets: Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. But recently, we determined that this solar system has 8 planets (no Pluto) with are lit by the Sun.

Amazing! In 164 BC, the Miracle of Hanukkah happened with GOD marking the 8 planets!!

16/4 on the Planet Nestor (our nextdoor neighbors) in 7 BC is the birthday of Esus(64=E5+S19+U21+S19) the Meisiah(64). 164=1 FOD - Seal #2: GOD=GOOD=7_4 or FOD=6_4 (on Planet Nestor)

A long time ago, I was doing research on Nazi occupied Germany. The Nazi's always claimed the number 8.

There are references out there pointing to 88 being connected to the old Nazis.

If you research the number 8, most sources point to 8 being an auspicious number. Since its early, I'll paraphrase the definition of auspicious - giving or being a future sign of success or characterized as success.

just sayin...
