More updates tomorrow afternoon - I shall hear from the Chamber as well as some people in Sharm what is going on. I hope I get more details on the attack on the german woman today as well as confirming strange shark behaviour in other areas.

for input...
do you think sharks are acting strange because of an impending disaster? Or is the eco system out of whack and we are starting to pay the price? Or is nature taking revenge?

My theory is...I think that shark is protecting something, no idea what though. If it were a hungry shark those people would have been dinner, as luck would have it they were just driven off,and they are alive so far, and my intentions are they will continue to recover! If your gonna be dinner then your dead if your messing in things that aren't any of your business you get a beating as a lesson to stay AWAY!!!

Is this what you are referring to? I just found this thread about the Gulf of Aden Vortex....interesting to say the least.
Maybe the sharks are reacting to something strange going on, leaving the south and coming up north for that reason?

Some truth and logic behind your theory - however the curious thing still is that this type of shark should not be at a beach, it also has not been seen in these areas, in fact, no sharks have been seen there by ppl diving over 20 years or as quoted by another professional that there were no sharks in this area the last 10-15 years.
What's causing it to show up and act aggressive - that mystery hopefully will be solved by the experts due to arrive tomorrow.

Your "BERZERK" reference caught my eye, and my memory could be hazy but in the beginning of the "something went BEZERK" thread wasn't there some posts as to an "Orca" maybe involved in the deepwater horizon explosion? I am not gonna go hunt thru that thread to find it to lazy...but if this shark should not be there then why is it?? Obviously it's not there for dinner? so what is it doing??? Sorry for going way out there but my heart loves a good mystery :) :peace:

Yeah...really seems as if the sharks have gone "bezerk"...such unusual behavior that all the top scientists are coming in now to see what on earth is going on...if that's not strange, then I'll paint myself blue and and call myself an elf.

There are no Great White Sharks in the Red Sea!!!

Photos were taken before the first attacks last week and the attack Sunday also had divers in the water and confirmed its a Longimanus - Oceanic White Tip!!!

No rogue white shark...here's a picture for you so you see the difference.

More and more the rumor of a ship dumping dead sheep in the sea may have attracted the sharks - I think it was a combination of many things...here the article:

""We are getting marine biologists from abroad to assess the situation and why there was this change in biological nature," said Garana, referring to the repeated attacks, which one expert called unprecedented.

"This is unnatural. It has never happened before," he said. "We have no explanation."

Government conservation experts said on Friday they captured two sharks, an oceanic whitetip and a mako, which they believed had mauled two Russian women swimmers last Tuesday and Wednesday.

Government workers had dumped chum in the water to attract the sharks.
.......

South Sinai governor Mohammed Shosha has said the sharks could have turned frenzied after a ship transporting livestock dumped dead sheep into the sea, while marine experts said overfishing may have forced them closer to shore.

The string of attacks in Sharm el-Sheikh was "unprecedented," according to an shark expert Samuel Gruber, who heads Miami's Bimini Biological Field Station.

Maybe a connection? As I said in one of my previous posts - the sharks were not in their usual spots this years due to extremely warm water temperatures, things were strange this year. Here an article I found interesting, might be clue as to why sharks are doing things out of the ordinary!

Sharks heading to our shores

If you go down to the beach today, you might be in for a toothy surprise.

Shark experts say a "myriad" of species are heading for our beaches and harbours as the weather heats up.

Rig, school, sevengill, thresher, bronze whaler and even great white sharks are moving closer to shore to drop their pups....

Red Sea: Sharks behaving strangely off Egypt's coast, five attacks one death in one week

Per the Zetas, it is a reduction in the normal prey that is the cause of increased attacks.

ZetaTalk Explanation 5/31/2008:
There are many aspects of the slow magnetic dance between the Earth and Planet X since it arrived in the vicinity in 2003. One, mentioned early in the body of ZetaTalk, was the increased roiling of the core of the Earth, such that swirling magma heats up the crust of the Earth and presses into volcanic outlets. There are more active volcanoes now than in the memory of man. When this volcanic activity is below the waves, it warms the oceans, creating more storms. Beyond the heat that comes up from the core of the Earth, there are other particle flows that disrupt and confuse life on the surface. The White Buffalo and other albinos showing up in increasing numbers in the past few years are due to such emanations from the core of the Earth. All this does more than trigger albinism. It also depresses immune systems.

this part makes definite sense though, ignore the planet X thingy, but, regarding the warm water temps! 2 weeks ago was still 29 C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"These are just some of the signals that humans and animals alike are getting from the presence of Planet X. For the shark, this is primarily a warmer ocean habitat, with their normal prey shifting locations due to these changes. A shark's normal prey can be depleted or decimated due to illness, or a depressed immune system, so the shark needs to hunt other prey. It is not just a trapped animal or an animal protecting its young that gets more aggressive. A hungry animal is also more aggressive. The assumption is made that the shark is the problem, so that the focus in on the shark. Have studies been made as to the effect of warming waters on the shark's normal prey? Where is the global seal count in all of this? Nonexistent! "

Update from the chamber today - wow, even a dive vessel is being used to study the ocean floor. At least some diving is permitted again...here are the updates.

CDWS shark incident update: diving possible tomorrow in Sharm el Sheikh

6 December 14:00

The majority of areas in Sharm el Sheikh will be open to diving activities for CDWS members and their clients tomorrow (7 December), however, please note a series of restrictions apply on where these can take place and on client experience. All snorkel activities and other watersports - with the exception of glass bottom boat operations - remain suspended in the whole of the Sharm el Sheikh coastal area.

.........

Under NO circumstances are introductory or training dives permitted to take place in the sea anywhere in Sharm el Sheikh until CDWS members are notified otherwise.

.........

CDWS is working with four world-renowned shark experts at this time. Three of the experts will be arriving over the next two days in Sharm el Sheikh to form an advisory team to try to assess and advise on the best course of action following the four shark attacks in areas north of Naama Bay this week.

Dr George H Burgess, the director of the Florida Program and curator of the International Shark Attack File at the Florida Museum of Natural History for Shark Research, is flying to the resort today. Arriving tomorrow are: Dr Marie Levine, head of the Shark Research Institute in Princeton, USA, and Dr Ralph Collier, of the Shark Research Committee and author of Shark Attacks of the Twentieth Century. Shark behavioural expert Dr Erich Ritter is assisting from his research centre based in the USA. The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) is funding all the costs involved.

A Swedish research vessel is currently surveying the topography of the ocean around Sharm el Sheikh in order to supply data to shark experts to assist their work. CDWS enlisted the help of this vessel to carry out the topography survey and secured all the relevant permissions.

CDWS would like to assure all members that the organisation is working continuously with all the relevant authorities and shark experts to try to resolve this situation in the most appropriate and safe way for all concerned. The CDWS also stresses to all members and the public that it does not in any way condone the random killing of sharks.

So now Locusts in Australia - really seems nature is taking revenge....

I'm being updated daily by people at location, tomorrow exploratory dives are being conducted. Meanwhile dive sites in National Park have been opened for tomorrow.

Will post any new updates as I get them in.

As to the exact circumstances of the german lady that died yesterday, I'm still receiving conflicting reports. What I know so far, she was indeed bitten in her arm and leg, however, it was said the press made it worse than it was. Her injuries were not fatal, but she suffered a heart attack and died. She was 71 years old and came to Sharm every year for holiday.

Well..the sharks didn't really eat the people - just mauled them. I don't think we're back on the menu, but definitely they don't want us there for some reason. And why this particular shark is showing up at local beaches is also double curious. I think they're being driven away from the natural habitat and now want to take over this area....

All speculation - we will see what the experts find in the coming days. I hope they do come up with an explanation...otherwise this stretch of beach is screwed!

Re: Updates for string of Shark attacks in Egypt, experts arrive in Sharm to study shark behavior!!
Stupid CNN - just saw the worst report EVER!!!!!

They are showing sharks being caught which was done last week in a stupid overreaction. Headline "Hunt for Killer Shark is on" - and they were saying we are hunting for the shark in Sharm now. Which is false. 2-4 sharks were killed, 1 Mako and 1 Oceanic White Tip were shown in the video as killed. Yes, that happened, but was quickly condemned and stopped by CDWS and HEPCA. They further reported that in January a french diver was killed - total BS!!!! Last April a french snorkeler was killed by a Oceanic White Tip, but not even anywhere NEAR Sharm, she was in the Deep South, St. John, where these sharks are common. And, the reason for the attack was because they were feeding the sharks, she also presented it with food, was snorkeling...left the group, went down, took a picture with a flash and then paddled up to the surface, which triggered the sharks hunting instinct. He bit her in the thigh, she bled to death.

No divers were ever attacked, nor have I heard of anybody saying they were harassed by sharks while diving. This only happens to snorkelers and swimmers...usually cause they make noise, splash, jerky movements and panic.

If you see the CNN report...it's a compilation of the events shortly after the first 3 attacks, now some calmer measures are being taken with shark experts at the location and exploratory dives taking place. Nobody is hunting any sharks!!!
