You are stuck in the 18th century grow up.  Thanks assplug. Newton did not assume variable density of objects, and Newton's laws alone do not explain gravity, otherwise it would be identical as a constant around the entire planet. Of course Newton's laws don't explain gravity. If today classical general relativity is already old fashioned, what to say about something coming from the 18th century?  Gravity acceleration can't be the same around the planet.Our world is not round. Some places have gravitational anomalies (mass is not perfectly distributed) and don't forget about the inertia of rotation. The only place where your weight is equal to the gravitational force in on the poles, where the planet doesn't spin.
