Britain gears up for a 'day of action' today with thousands of students and lecturers keen to take to the streets in protest against tuition fee rises.


The National Union of Students and the University and College Union (UCU) have called the demonstrations against the government plans to triple university tuition fees to £9,000 a year ahead of the Thursday vote on the proposals.

This is while the UCU has also organized a mass rally of MPs and protesters at London's Victoria Embankment for Thursday.

Universities in London, Bradford and Leeds are already hit by sit-ins and occupations.

This £9000 figure is a bit of a red herring.

Surely most Universities will charge well below that??
