You know... where I live, I haven't had to lock my house in 18+ years! I don't even have a key to my house - never needed one.

The media asked to have the rifle and ammo on display for purposes of reporting the news - I believe - My guess is! -in the actual world, the weapon was not lying around willy-nilly.
