Your father was indeed a hero and deserving of respect and the medals he received for his dedication to duty and you should be proud of him.

On the other hand, my father served in the Canadian Army and received no important medals to my knowledge while in the military and although I know little about his experiences I am judging the man after the fact and he was a cruel and sadistic man warranting only the douche bag award.

I am certain that you have not committed the same atrocities as those of my father, and thus will be remembered with honor and respect by your descendants.
