Whole Earth Catalogue...
Anyone here remember this catalogue? (before computer). I'm getting ready to move out and discovered some long lost books. "The Whole Earth Catalogue" was the "go too" for knowlege on tools,self-sufficiancey, ect. for the '70's-'80's. I HAD to sit down and thumb thru this today. So many predictions have come true. So many life sustaining ways from our forefathers AND those that were "back-to-the land folks." Call us what you will, but there's some of us that are STILL beatin' the game!
Best wishes and good luck.

I spent many an hour in that book. It was like a bible for hippies. I think my copy is still on hand. Haven't looked at it in years. A real blast from the past, for sure, and much of it still relevant.

Remember the "Hoe-Dads"?...Co-operatives that rescued the the forests from the logging companies in the north-west. They're the reason the coal companies gotta re-claim the mountains here in Kentucky. Just a point of interest.

Yup. I own a copy. Even if outdated somewhat, it is a treasure trove of creative solutions.
A keeper.

Re: Whole Earth Catalogue...
They called it "access to tools". Some of the tools were pretty esoteric at the time, though mostly out of print today.

My copy's around here somewhere.

Re: Whole Earth Catalogue...
Hi Pea Vine! I'm near Berea, KY! I think there was a part two to the whole earth catalog. I have one but I have something else that is similar. If you like that, see if you can find a Domebook . It's a big hippie book in large format about building dome houses from the early 70's....super cool. You have to be high to understand most of it.

I used to get it all the time. That and high times.
Good reading.
My dream was to buy a hilltop in Colorado. Put up a geodesic home and replace the panels with glass.

I have the Whole Earth Epilog (Second edition 1974) and Whole Earth Catalog (16th Edition 1975). The books are full of little articles and adds. Very informative.
