Glenn Beck Says COFFEE Will Go To $77 A Pound!

I read about this a couple of week s ago, it seem inevitable that while that every thing is going to increase in price there will be some that will increase more than others and while I love that early morning cuppa, I am more concerned about the price of fruit and vegies, I am pretty sure the farmers are not getting this increase.
A few years ago bananas were destroyed in a cyclone in Australia, so the price of "nanas" went up, and up they have stayed, even though there are now plenty of bananas.

Recently the price of chocolate went up, perhaps you noticed that while you were paying the same price you may have been getting less.Cadbury changed the shape of their chocolate blocks , hoping no-one would see that the size had changed as well.
This was because (so they tell us) they were now paying their cocoa bean slaves a "fair wage" so therefore had to increase their price to maintain their profits.
I suggest we all do that at work...increase our prices (wages) because we have to maintain our profit (living)

Good catch. True that everything we buy is getting smaller in packaging yet the price goes up.

WNB posted about a french press. I've hear they make great coffee and don't require electricity.

Personally for an electric maker, I like the Keurig. It comes with a little personal cup filter, so you use only a few tsp. of coffee at a time. There is no waste and the coffee is delicious.

Usually, there is a secondary order affect, he states what coffee prices will be because he and the TPTB invest in tea, and so therefore folks will buy tea. Most folks are "disillusioned" and don't understand how to interpret. If you don't know what I am talking about...surprise, you are part of the gang.

He is just setting an event that you can react upon for some one else's benefit.

It's about $5 right now. Go to your nearest Army/Navy store. They are enamel and are great for any fire.

The only fault I see with your theory is that most coffee drinkers would sooner eat dirt than switch to tea.

Hell, coffee is only $1.99 a pound here in Houston. Maybe I'll buy a truck load and sell to you idiots that pay $7.00 for only $6.00. Better yet, I'll give Beck a call and sell it to him for $39.00. Any takers?

Umm you do know we are discussing future prices, not current. Most of us are still paying $2-5 per pound, depending on the brand. A little reading goes a long ways.

If I may say so ... ugh! Coffee must be fresh. Unless you ROAST the beans yourself. Or if you have roasted whole beans, they will store fairly well in a freezer.

If the coffee is ground, it goes stale quickly, and stale with a bad taste, not just a dull taste.

Yes I know, but it's better than nothing if coffee prices go wacky. Won't switch to tea. I wont, I wont, I wont.

I also hate it when coffee gets that mold on top after a few days.

I tried making espresso from some preground ... next time I'll do tea rather than that! Maybe my can was particularly bad, but it was so bad I cannot bring myself to try preground again.

If GB is right, it's time to buy into tropical real estate. Coffee comes from elevations about 4500 - 6500 feet, in latitudes near the equator. It needs a consistent temperature, no big summer / winter swings. Come to think of it, I would probably enjoy the same climate coffee does, so I should leave winter behind, learn Spanish and go someplace where they grow coffee!

Oh that is ironic. I'm actually a descendant of the German Dieseldorffs of Alta Verapaz Guatemala. Maybe that is where my coffee obsession comes from, it's in my blood. They still grow coffee in the same location as 120yrs ago.

It's hard to imagine that all coffee prices will skyrocket, because it's grown all around the world (near the equator.) But I can see Yemen coffee getting even more expensive, if we have an embargo against them. It's great stuff (the true "Mocha"; Mocha is the name of a port in Yemen) but only a tiny fraction of our luxury coffee imports, and nothing below the luxury category.

Brazil, Colombia, Hawaii, Central America, southern Mexico, several countries in Africa -- are these places all going to jack the price to more than 10x its current level? I would be surprised, unless it's his way of saying the US Dollar is toast.
