For those that are confused... or do not possess rudimentary mathematical skills, allow me to help.

The FICA rate was 6.2 for both employer & employee.

Now it is 6.2 for employer and 4.2 employee. A savings of 2%

If an individual indeed made 17,000 per year... then the original 6.2 amount would be $1,054 in FICA liability. Now at 4.2 it's a $714 tax liability, which has them saving $340 per year.

Interesting because I make 4x that amount and I think my boss screwed up our calculations..... FFS.......
