And I don't see why you can't cut the patch in half. The good news is that, according to the Obama administration, the rich will pay for everything. User ID: 1085869 Canada 01/03/2011 08:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is no easy thing to do. What finally worked for me was when I got a chest infection one time and had a hard time breathing. That got me to thinking that this is ultimately how I am going to end up from smoking. I decided that I was more fond of breathing than smoking and that was that. However, until you are really, truly ready to quit. It will be a very difficult battle. Good luck and stay strong. As his vision slowly cleared, the traveler came to the startling realization that he had been sitting by the side of the road, repeatedly hitting himself in the head with his walking staff. He had in fact been doing this for a quarter of a century. Shaking his head at his own folly, he dusted himself off, set his gaze upon the road up the mountain and once more set off upon his journey. |

I had a patch on at the hospital. I think step 1 may be to high of a dose, can I cut the little sticker in half? Quoting: K_arenI think 2011 may become the healthiest I've been in 7 years. The patch worked for me 11 years ago. It took a couple tries though. Step 2 may be where to start. Just remember this: no matter how bad the craving gets just don't light up! The craving will pass within minutes..., to light up is failure and will result in regret seconds after you do it. |

Well, I figured since I was in the hospital 2 days with out cigarettes, that may be the best time to start, even though I did have the patch in there. |

(OP) User ID: 1116698 United States 01/03/2011 10:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yes you can cut the patches in half. I used them several years ago and found it was cheaper that way to buy step1 and just cut them in half and then 1/3's and then 1/4's so thats how I did it. Quoting: Ratla 1143869Thats what I imagined! but i saw stuff like this when I google searched.. "These nicotine patches are transdermal patches, and if you alter them by cutting them, you may receive all or most of the nicotine at once vs. over an extended time period (which is how they are intended for use - to deliver a small dose of nicotine over an extended time). A transdermal patch is used for a very controlled dosing of medication over time. These patches have a membrane through which the medication seeps, touching the skin. The medication permeates the skin and enters the body. This is a continuous dosing of medicine - in this case, nicotine." etc |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1193530 United States 01/03/2011 10:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Good luck you can do it. I quit 11 years ago when I had my middle son. My husband told me "if you die from those things I won't come to your funeral". That was after his 45 year old brother died from lung cancer. Suks cause in TN everyone smokes here. THe only crappy thing now is that second hand smoke really bothers me. Well good luck to you. They say the first 2 weeks are the hardest and you are detoxing, sweating, having fits. You can do it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1216452 United States 01/03/2011 10:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | if you have really made up your mind to quit, you'll have a very good chance of success. i quit with the patches over a year ago. i found that i had to take it off about one hour before bed, because it would cause a very light sleep and i would wake up a often during the night. after the first week of patches, i was actually relieved and was convinced that i could do it. btw, i smoked nearly 3 packs per day for about 20 years. so i was addicted. step 2 is just smaller patches, so i would think that you could use those twice as long, then go to the even smaller step 3 patches at the end. |

(OP) User ID: 1116698 United States 01/03/2011 11:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My boyfriend is quiting as well, he's using the gum. Right now he's reading a book that says the physical addiction ends after 3 days. I think I'll just stop, not use the patches. I mean if you told me I'd be doing this last week I'd think you were a total moran. I smoked a pack a day. Now I only think about it after sex and food. if I already went 2 days with one of them no patch, one with a patch i pulled off and put back on because it was itchy, I think I can do it. Just get all the nicotine out and get it over with, I'm getting over the alkie as well, may as well suffer it all at once and it looks like the alcohol will take longer. |
