I'm assuming with the kit and terrain these guys are in, They'd have found him using the Avalanche Beacon device. Otherwise finding him using tracking skills alone would have been one lucky guess.

Didn't see him trying to create a air-bubble infront of his mouth when the slide stopped, but his left arm might have been injured from the result of the fall looking at the vid. One of the key survival tips to buy time is creating a air-pocket before the snow sets. It doesn't take much snow to incapacatate someone, so trying to dig yourself out isn't a option.
