Why does everybody freak out over pigs in S. Korea,
But think it's okay to euthanize old people?

I think it's sad that our elders aren't receiving as much respect as a bunch of pigs.

When did animals become more important than people?

What do you think?

While I would agree old people could absolutely be treated better, I've never seen a million old people being buried alive, have you?

Pigs are known to be even smarter than dogs. This was unbelievably cruel.

Re: Why does everybody freak out over pigs in S. Korea,
On the Korea thread people are saying how terrible it is for the poor pigs, but on another thread it's nothing to read how they wish baby boomers would hurry up and die, so they wouldn't be stuck taking care of them.

It just amazes me how animals are FAR more respected than our own parents and grandparents.

Why is it that people will cry over an animal being harmed and think nothing over an elderly person losing their medical or pension? Not only do they think nothing about it, but they are called all sorts of names and blamed for where we are now.

Don't you find it upsetting?

I'm not saying what was done to the pigs was right, I'm just saying I see retired people being treated like dirt, while the pigs get real tears.

Anyone who would cry over the pigs and tell their elders to drop dead has a serious problem, don't ya think?

Re: Why does everybody freak out over pigs in S. Korea,
I understand where you're coming from, Farmgirl. It's all perspective, really. I have an innate reverence for all life, including pigs and people. The problem is that sometimes the roles seem to get reversed.

Pure spirit is found in animals other than human, in most cases. The human animal has the ability to corrupt and be corrupted. I do see a difference there.

Animals kill other animals and sometimes they kill humans too.

Cats will kill birds for fun.

Animals should never be placed above the level of humanity.

Re: Why does everybody freak out over pigs in S. Korea,
but u see - money being spent on caring forthe elderly could be
more profitably spent on killing them -

and then we'd have more money to spend on coming up with ways to kill the rest of them

an that way we'd be relieving the great burden being
placed on the earth's resources

Exactly. You see where I'm coming from.

I see all sorts of animal charities advertised on TV, radio, etc. But how many ads do you see supporting our elderly or poor?

If you do see an ad for humans, it is NEVER for Americans.

I know elderly people who own their own homes, but can't afford food. They are neglected. Why is this, when we can afford to send billions of dollars to foreign countries?

Why are we shunning people who raised us and our parents?

Many humans can't defend themselves either. Anytime I hear about an elderly person starving, freezing or dying from neglect, I think it is worse than the pigs.

One human life is worth more than a million pigs.

No, I haven't, YET.

That is the purpose of my thread. To prevent something like this happening to humans.

When animals become more important than humans, this could be the case someday.

I beg to differ.

Humans were meant to rule over animals, therefore they will always have more importance.
