I have a couple of nephews like that, too. One's in a nuc sub heaven knows where (they can't tell us) and the other went over to Afghanistan right after Thanksgiving. They told him he would be there two years. I don't quite get it - I thought we were supposedly winding down over there.

My son also wants to be career military, he's going to school right now, but I'm sure will be back either in Afghanistan or Iraq in a couple of years.

I want desperately for these "engagements" to be over by then, but I highly doubt it.
