who of you ever bought art for a low price and
Came back home with your piece of artwork and found out it was much more worth then you had paid for it that time???

I bought some old oil painting in october of an old tree
without leaves,Kind of sad painting i must say but i like old oil paintings,i collect a lot of them (miniature)from old den hague painting university school in holland dating back 1800's..

It was not the kind of happy painting you would or might be thinking of buying, but hell it only cost me 60 dollars and it was nicely painted, and most important no damage on it whatsoever.

After examining the piece myself, and an expert we came to notice it is a painting from the famous painter (Louis) Apol including signature lower right.

After searching this artist i came to notice his artworks sell at this time for thousands of dollars for small paintings. The painting i have from him is 40 cm in height chuckle

One of you ever had this luck???

Take care,
Fabian

Re: who of you ever bought art for a low price and
My late father would buy all sorts of artwork, oils, watercolors, etchings, etc.,and had over 1000 pieces when he died.I sold a lot of it through art auction houses. This is the best way to go. If you sell to a dealer they will give you a lower price. There are websites that are by paid subscription that will give auction results for artists. Good luck! There were quite a few Dutch pieces, as he loved to go to Amsterdam and get artwork. One of those pieces that I sold is now in a museum!

yes, sometimes you just want to hold on to a piece that is special, but I don't have enough wall space for all of mine! Good luck!
