Utah City to Deploy Big Brother Blimps

I was thinking, Boy, that'll be subtle. Then I read the article. To be used at night. Between UFO reports and people taking potshots..should be interesting.

OGDEN, Utah — Ogden city police are adding unmanned blimps to their set of tools that will help them monitor criminal activity from above.

The city hopes to have the first blimp launched and overseeing problem areas of Ogden by spring.

"It's becomes a deterrent when people know there is something watching you and following you, people behave differently," said Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey. "There's good data behind that to show people don't commit crimes when they know they're being watched, so this provides crime prevention as well as with the intervention that we know it can provide."

The American Civil Liberties Union has voiced some concern over this type of surveillance. They say it could diminish the constitutional rights of citizens...
