Apocalypse (not) now ... strange green light over area could have been fighter jets

It might not rise to the level of dead birds falling to earth or fish washing up on shore, but Oakland and Macomb counties experienced their own apocalypse-tinged mystery this week.

Police agencies in Macomb and Oakland counties on Wednesday night received reports of a strange bright green light in the sky along the 12 Mile Road corridor between Gratiot in Roseville as well as along Interstates 75 in Madison Heights and 94 in Macomb.

Callers told police they saw what appeared to be an illuminated object falling from the sky “like a firework or shooting star” around 9 p.m. There were no reports of any damage.

Jets usually have for safety reasons, "red and white flashing lights". Sometimes also blue with all three.

Green is going little too dangerous and is not in the safetely list. Green light would be more to stylish use.

This will prove jet theory "wrong". So on it was not jet, it was "green flashing light".

First was white flash. Then there was big black circle and moved to right. Flame all around with the tail.

Really?? You mean the whole 10 minutes the full moon was not behind the clouds? It is ALWAYS bright with a full moon.

I did research what that agency stuff was and it was about "you become radioactive".

Last night was a very bright full moon.I could see inside my home ,like it was daytime too, at 3:30 in west central wi.Unisys Weather on visul 12 hour loop shows something not normal streak across the upper part of the USA last night.I finaly found here people seen something. Check it out,I,d still love to know what the white dots are that show up randomly. They look like the space fleet comes home once in awhile.

Wonder what partially colour blind people saw then?! I can't see the green on traffic lights, just white/grey.. so that 'green' meteor thingy wotever it woz.. would've just been another ole light in the sky then innit?!..

It was reported by too many people in different part of the east coast in the US. So no...no color blind people. This is something big and it's being swept under the carpet and explained with a lame fighter jet theory. Read some of the eye witness reports...not a fighter jet for sure.

Well, that just sounds promising...I am unfortunately unable to hide inside for the next 3 days. Oh well...if I start glowing in the dark then I'll know why.

NEW: Big, green and glowing: Was it a meteor seen in mid-Michigan and other states?

Whatever it was, it was green.

When Alma College Geologist Murray Borrello was driving south on Wright Avenue in Alma Wednesday evening and a big green light flashed across the sky in front of him, other motorists traveling south put on their brakes.

“You couldn’t not see it,” he said. “It would have caught your attention. It was a good sized object.

“Is it space junk? Something that fell from an airplane? I don’t know. I had a kind of sick feeling. It was big, green and glowing. I’ve seen shooting stars. I’ve never seen green ones, but others have. It was weird.”

No calls came into Gratiot County’s 911 central dispatch, but that wasn’t the case in the metropolitan Detroit area.

Several Oakland and Macomb county police departments received calls from people saying they saw something weird around 9 p.m.

I'm stunned to find this thread !! I'm in Ohio, and was suddenly awakened last night by a loud sound and vibration. Not sure what time it was... probably between 2 and 3. At first I thought an airplane was flying over my house WAY too low. It was very noisy!! I sat up and listened, while the noise continued for a few minutes. Yes... it did seem bright outside, but my blinds were closed and I was too groggy to get up and open them. When the sound stopped, I couldn't go back to sleep - I was just a little unnerved. I finally went into the TV room and smoked a cigarette, then went back to bed.

I'd forgotten all about it, until I read this thread. DAMN !!

Interesting...you should have opened your blinds a little and took a peek outside. You're the first one to describe any vibration and sound with it though.

Article with a picture, but no idea if that's from this event or just any picture they slapped next to the article. According to this one though, they say that earlier this month another green/blue tinted meteor lit up the sky from Florida to Oklahoma with people reporting it even in Arkansas. Did anybody hear about this or see it? News to me...very curious!
