CBS NEWS! Car frozen in Place in NY!!! Look at this video

Poor guy had to use a screwdriver and hammer to try and get all the ice off his car and broke a window while doing that.

You guys really have to look at this!!

He could have free it by asking people to piss on it....

well...that's gross...I guess it is so cold even that would've frozen, then it would've been covered with yellow ice on top of it. Eeeewwww...

Yes, that's what I understood too...but sucks, how come just that one car and how come it's covered top to bottom in ice???

Ya, he's a fucking douchebag. Using a Chisel?? I've had this happen to my car when parked at the airport after 2 weeks in the winter. 3 or 4 inches thick.. start the car, allow it to warm up for at least 15-20 minutes, then hammer with your FIST not a fucking metal chisel.. My god some people are dumb.

Ok - first of all, the guy wasn't parked 2-3 weeks in CANADA, he parked a few hours to watch a football match. Second...he couldn't get INSIDE his car to begin with, so how could he start it? Ok, maybe he should have first cleared the driver side and try to get in and start the car, but did you see how thick the ice was all around the car, from top to bottom? He had no other choice but to do something.

The way this car looks reminds you of a movie, right?

Ok first of all, why is someone from fucking Egypt lecturing about de-icing a car? Second. If you failed to notice, THE OTHER DOOR WAS NOT COVERED IN ICE. Third. Hmm, let me see.. logic tell me if i use a fucking metal hammer and drive a METAL chisel through ice, I may shatter a window, which is likely going to cost $500 to repair with labor. DE-ICING FLUID does exist, and is readily available at ANY hardware store.

He had lots of choices, however due to a lack of braincells he made the worst choice.

Because that somebody from Egypt is actually from Bavaria and I experienced some harsh winters years ago with -27 C and I had to get out starting my car in the morning and warming it etc...I don't have to get into more details. Now if people could just get over that darn country flag stop being so hostile, we could discuss the thread.

And ok, he did free one door but honestly, how thick that ice was, even he ran the car for an hour, it wouldn't have come off just by pounding with your fist on it.

Maybe he was stupid, so what. This thread is just showing about what happened to this guy in NY - it can be normal in other parts of the world, but it was obviously unusual enough for CBS to report it.
That's my point and nothing more.

Guess what, there's lots of you kinds living here too you know...just cuz I fly this flag, doesn't mean I'm "FROM" here. And a little respect and tolerance towards other nationalities would also be more appropriate.

Some people are being uebersmart - if you live in Canada, Siberia or other parts of the world where you have to deal with harsh winters every year and you are used to it, you will hardly be on CBS news because you had to de-ice your car!

This is not what this thread is about. This guy parked his car in NY and in a matter of a few hours his car was covered in ice from top to bottom, frozen to the ground. It made people in the neighborhood stop and look at it, and CBS even found it newsworthy.

Ok, so the guy was stupid enough to use hammer and chisel and broke his back window, but he was desperate to get his car moving again and obviously, this was a new situation for him so he didn't handle it as well as somebody who is accustomed to this type of weather.

I find the video interesting, also, that this only affected that 1 car there. What I'd like to know, how was it that it's covered from the roof all the way down? If there was a water main break, how did the ice get on top of the car and the side to cover it completely? Serious question...if somebody could explain, thank you in advance.

bout the car, yeah that was weird. I would start to "free" it from the ice using nething Icould find! weird though but I thought I saw another car covered in ice for one part. Strange weather

Yes, I lived in America almost 5 years and there are some ignorant people that know nothing outside of their state - but I would never say all americans are like this and proof is on GLP. I find it quite sad that people judge just by nationality, there's a sort of each kind in every country. I hate generalizing.
Just cuz this guy in the video was stupid to break his own window (as stated by the smart Canadian poster), doesn't make all americans stupid for example. I think he was overwhelmed and surprised by this situation.

I found it bizarre that the whole car was covered from top as well...I've never seen something like this before, we have to remember that this occurred within a few hours, not days or weeks.

I watched the video - it was water from a pot hole that he parked next and kept splashing on the car everytime someone drove by. The thick ice was only on the street side.

this forum lacks respect lately I have noticed. Just because I have a US flag on my title they think I am American born. NO actually I am Scottish born yet people call me "dumb American" and all this.

It is stupid and people need to stop this nonsense of assuming things. Just like they assume I am a male.

You're right - thanks, that totally escaped me when I watched it. Well, guess that teaches everybody a lesson. In these temps, watch where you park your car and maybe check on it every now and then if you know you have to leave soon...
