So I gave up drinking.
I was hospitalized for DTs and my boyfriend who I live with promised he'd quit with me. He volunteered to do this, and it was really helpful.

It hasnt even been a month yet and I still want to drink all the time.
One night I wasnt supposed to be home till late cause I had to go to NJ, but it was much quicker than I thought and I got back at like 3 pm ( I thought I'd be home at 10). He got home from work early with a 6 pack, I was kinda pissed but kept it to myself... His plan was drink it before I got home and pretend it didnt happen.

Last week we went to a friends house for dinner and neither of us were drinking. I went out for a smoke and came back and he had a glass of whiskey in front of him. I didnt even want to go to the party because I said this would happen, I said it will be boring, everyone will be drinking but me, he said "I promise I wont."
Anyway, I think he thought he would finish it before I got back upstairs. I got pissed and was like fuck it if youre doing it so am I. Thats been my only lapse so far.

Now he's coming home later cause he's "going out with coworkers" and I'm sure they're just going out for "coffee" since thats what you do with coworkers.
He's out right now and he really thinks I'm that stupid?
I'm pissed.

The road goes one of two ways.
Stay with him and be drunk.
Take the other path and become sober.

The smell of alcohol makes me want to drink and when he comes home smelling like that, its like I get jealous that I cant do it too.

I feel the same about cigarettes. I can go months without smoking, but the cravings start as soon as I smell someone puffing away.

Smart move. Alcohol kills the brain long before the body dies. It kinda makes a person retarded though they may not have been born that way.

When I quit, the first three months were tough. I thought of booze 24/7. After that I just kept busy in life. I have been clean for nearly 18 years. It's mind over matter. If it's easy, it's not worth doing. I still hang out with people that drink like fishes, does not bother me.

Good Luck to you.

Not a drop for +6 years now. Cold turkey. No therapy. Nothing. Just did it. I went all the way down to grain alcohol, way past vodka.

I still get cravings for the buzz. The smell makes me want to puke instantly, though. The want for the buzz will be with you for life, I'm sure.

Be strong and only concern yourself with YOUR behavior. You cannot manage anyone elses behavior on any level. Don't get sucked into the vortex of someone elses weakness and make it your weakness.

If you cant do something you love what is the point of living just drink on one day a week.

Dont get totally drunk just enuff so your in control.

If all you do is want to have drink have a few.

Otherwise it has control over you.

I was a alco and thats what I did I feel much better.

If I could never have a drink ever again I would be unhappy.

Just control yourself.

You will enjoy drinking more if you only do it once every week

Plz keep in mind that you can not control him. He does not have the problem so why should he have to stop? Now if he chooses not to stop, you need to decide whether to stay with him or not.... Dont let his actions affect your sobriety

Being around people that drink, and places where there is alcohol, simply does not keep an Alcoholic sober!

You can do it! Change the people, and places!

Are you guys dysfunctional when drinking?
Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support!
