As a Texan I'm getting perturbed by the constant use of TX and it related to large doom, How about Manitoba sized or Alaskan sized, sheerly so it can be California sized.

In Australia, we use "as big as Texas" to mean something which is pretty big, but not all that big really. Does that make you feel better?

We use Texas as a reference becasuse TX can fit in a circle nicely - the shape of these systems.

I live in brisbane..its gonna be funny watching all those houses and boats and bodies floating past again to put a fresh coat of SLUDGE DOOM on the bottom of the bay totally wiping out what was left of the rather pathetic fishing hereabouts of late.

Oz Gets slapped hard every so often. Granted not as often as the Gulf of the Americas.

I hope you all have learned from our 'Katrina' event and will take shelter and evacuate if possible.

There looks like a lot of convection in the East quadrant and not much of an eye at present but the amount of precipitation in something this big will really case a lot of damage for 100's of kms either side of landfall.. I am no where near it but I am a bit concerned for those near there

Shit! Could be the biggest cyclone to ever hit Queensland and they're expecting up to a metre of rain in some areas, a metre!!! This is according to Anna Bligh in the presser.
