More than 140 troops with the Oklahoma Army National Guard aided local authorities Tuesday in rescuing dozens of stranded motorists snowbound throughout the state, officials said.
Lt. Col. Max Moss, Guard spokesman, said those troops, dispatched in some 50 light military trucks and Humvees, were assisting the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and other law-enforcement agencies in picking up stranded motorists and delivering them to local shelters for safekeeping to ride out the blizzard.
