Food for Thought..prepared?
Everybody and their dog is into pumping Gold. Makes me a bit twitchy. Gold is going to be very hard to move. Who the heck is going give you change for a One ounce piece of Gold? If you have a million dollars… sure get some gold. Fact is most of us cannot afford it and I question its utility value.

If I had an extra 10k lying around I would be stocking up on these items:

Coffee. Going to quadruple in cost soon.
Tea. Stores good for a long time.
Sugar and Maple Syrup.
Honey. Will become a rarity.
Chocolate. Going way up.
Vitamins.
Any Spice made in Africa, Asia, Middle-East, Central America
Cocaine and Marijuana.(Good to trade and good medicine)I'm not advocating, but face facts,as if the US and other countries don't already do this.Get a piece of the pie.
American made steel. Knife, Gun and tool stock.
MMS water purification drops.
Hydrogen Peroxide
When the big Anti-immigration and Anti-Chinese revolution hits make sure you are not in a business that sells Chinese made crap. Small American made manufacturing shops are going to explode overnight once the big crash hits. Clothing, foot-wear and utensils are going be in big demand. American made electronics are going to make a huge comeback. Hang onto all your old electronics… especially old computer components.

Once the divorce of the U.S. and Chinese economies start it’s going to get nasty. China is already waving the rare earth metals card. Burn all the paper bullshit and the fact is that the United States has TEN times the strategic depth that China does. This is going to cause China to become desperate and dangerous. China does not have enough food, oil or water.

Wood.

As people go back to the old tried and tested ways of the past wood is going to make a huge comeback. There are bridges made of wood that have lasted for hundreds of years. Some of the new resin and glue compounds make wood an extremely viable construction material in all sorts of application. A certain Northwest species of wood has anti-radar characteristics better than any metal or alloy and is much cheaper. I can see high speed coastal Naval vessels using wood laminate exteriors in the future.

Wood for energy. There is fifty years worth of energy for all of North America just sitting in piles rotting on our forest floors. The Forest is a self-sustaining energy supply. North American forest grow by 3% per year. The West Coast Forest from California through B.C and up to Alaska has more BIOMASS than anywhere on earth. If you want to stop climate change… plant a tree. That’s how Israel reclaimed the coastal swamps and arid areas… by planting millions of tress. All of the Southwest U.S. could be made green and fertile if there was a major tree planting project. Forest make their own weather, trap and store water and attract millions of species.

Dead Currencies: US Dollar, Chinese Yuan, Japanese Yen, the Euro. Anything Arab.

Wild-card: Israeli Shekel. Israel may have ;)more private wealth holdings backed up by Diamonds, Gold and Guns… than Switzerland.

Heads up: Better Red than dead. When the Middle-east explodes all of Europe and much of Asia will look to Russia as their main supplier of Energy and Food.

Re: Food for Thought..prepared?
Well, I wish I had more of a stockpile but I am doing my best. I am way better prepared than I would have been 6 months ago. Depending on how fast things accelerate into the ditch I may be able to gather more items.

Still waiting for the money tree to start growing. smile.
