So....church today....was interesting.
I haven't been to church in a while....though I am a Christian...I just haven't found a church that "feels like home".

Well, I attended a church today that I was invited to...and the sermon was all about the "End Times".

What was particularly interesting was the fact that it wasn't a "hell fire and brimstone" sermon straight out of Revelation.....it was one that delved into simple statements made by Christ in the books of Luke and Matthew.

It was about how to prepare ourselves for things to come.

In the Book of Matthew, he referenced the 24th chapter....he explained that the "building" the disciples referred to...had a bigger context...it was symbolic of their current way of life.

Prophetically, Jesus answered that (paraphrasing) the buildings would be completely toppled and destroyed.

I found most interesting the curiousities of the disciples...as they asked three key questions:

1.When will the Temple be destroyed?
2.What will be the signs of your coming?
3.What are the signs of the end of the age?

The pastor pointed out that Christ answered in typical Rabbinic fashion....weaving his answer through the discourse of time...almost riddle-esque.

He warned that there would be wars....and rumors of wars. He warned that nation would rise against nation...and kingdom against kingdom. He warned that there would be famine and earthquakes "in many places". (Sound at all familiar to whats going on these days?!)
He also warned that these signs were only the "beginning of birth pains" for things to come.

Three major take aways for me were this:

1.(Matt. 24:42) We are to keep watch, for NO ONE knows the time when the Lord will return.
2.(Matt. 24:44) We must be ready! For the Lord will return when we do not expect him.
3.(Matt. 24:46) We are to keep serving! For it will "be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns".

Not sure if this will be my new church home or not....but I definitely felt I was intended to hear this sermon. I will be attending at least through the completion of this study.

If anyone is interested, I'll keep this post updated with highlights as the new lessons are completed.

Be safe!

Hey, cool. Thanks for sharing your opinion on my post.

But don't worry....I'm not distracting myself from anything...merely trying to delve deeper into the truth.

The Vatican is rich, was rich, and will always be rich...not really sure how that pertains to my post...but regardless...

Thanks for the view.

Well, for years I haven't "bothered" with church...

And this sheep comment is actually becoming funny....we all belong to one fold or another...no matter how you slice it. Think about it. And, for the record...I mean no insult.

No hand holding either. Kinda what I liked about the service. I have been trying to get back into church....because fellowship with brothers and sisters in my faith is super important.

I am not saying any one is bad or good....simply sharing a really cool experience I had today.

People make the Vatican rich, not for merely going to church but by giving money. One can go to church and not give money.

Secondly Revelation 17 states how the Vatican will be destroyed, so much for "always be rich"! Go ahead, read Revelation 17.. Tell me it's not the Vatican. Oh, it is the Vatican!
Popes claim they are God.. Call them "Father". Jesus said call NO MAN father, for there is only ONE Father. Vatican is a beastly mechanism, it's time is near.. only one more pope to go before the end of that disease.

here's what the preacher will not tell you.

we are at the end.

the chruch will be closed down.

the money is going to change real soon. when this happens four guys come on the world stage. two good two bad.

the whole et/ufo thing will heat up.

the bible is the final say or the truth.

your problems come when they change the money. don't want to argue with anyone. watch the money. day one for you.

tell who who by their fruit.

watch the money...

i'm interested in what it stood for, and when you understand, that, a new gene ended up on this planet 2000 years ago, which through love has filtered through mankind, and when these comets pass, you will know,

People usually just go to church to feel like they belong to a place... they go to hear a feel good message and then out to lunch with their fellow parishoners. Then they go back home to their miserable sad lonely lives watching whatever sporting event is on tv that day. Then usually followed by a weeknight bible study in house group. Ad rinse repeat.

cool op!

wish most churches were like that!

I think i've heard ONE Revelation sermon in my life!
:martiallaw4:

“The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it.”

Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

Ecclesiastes 12:14
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. ~9/11 Was An Inside Job!

1) The church has the sacraments which are necessary for salvation.

2) Public worship of God is due to him.

3) For educational/knowledge purposes.

4) It is a place of prayer and conemplation.

DANIEL 9:20-27

Now while I was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God, yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering. And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand. At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision:
“ Seventy weeks are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the Most Holy.
“ Know therefore and understand,
That from the going forth of the command
To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince,
There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; (7 weeks =1941 to 1948)
The street shall be built again, and the wall,
Even in troublesome times.
“ And after the sixty-two weeks < 1948 to the last day of 2010
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; < God is not selfish, this is for us!
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood, < the great tribulation
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; (a one year lie)
But in the middle of the week ( “sometime around 6 months” )
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. ( Christianity will be outlawed! )
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.” < He is cast alive into the lake of fire!

The Holocaust - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The persecution and genocide were carried out in stages. ...... Once the mass killing of
Jews began in 1941

1941 The holocaust began
+ 7
= 1948 These are the first 7 years of Daniel 9

1948 Is the rebirth of Israel
+ 62
= 2010

Christians are headed into a very traumatic season this year, 2011! Gods Word is true, I know these numbers and calculations belong to Him, and are for “encouragement” for His Church. Please understand, I must write these things or I may have this understanding taken away and given to another, I am far to anxious to see Jesus Christ in heaven, to throw in the towel and not believe Gods Word, or to worry if I am pleasing to, or to fear any man at this point! I do pray you will understand that God is giving us a heads up so to speak so we can inform as many saints as will listen to us!
Gods Word specifically says “after” the 62 weeks!
2010 is finished 2011 is after! This can only mean one very important moment for us all is quickly approaching, Although none of us knows the day or hour we certainly can see the signs violently approaching, Christ is coming, deal with sin and light the lamp. Jesus Christ says, unsheathe the Sword!
The Unsheathed Sword Is Very Quick And Very Powerful

Sounds like a good sermon and that you came away with the three most important parts.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787
