The article said that sinkholes have doubled and tripled between 2006 and 2009! Why? Why have there been so many lately??

I am too lazy to do this but I wish I had a bookmark saved for 2008 till now 2011 of all the sink holes in Florida
it wasn't that many

and the ones I do remember they were in the STREET and what caused them was broken water lines

there were a few i remember of homes effected by sink holes but it wasn't that many

It's OK for insurance companies to make money on fear mongering for possible unforeseen catastrophes.. but when they actually have to pay out... write a law and protect them.

Sinkholes need not breach the surface to do damage. Unless there is a new wieght like a building or road traffic huge caves can develop below the surface and go unnoticed on top.

This isn't just a Florida thing. Think way back to... a few weeks ago and last fall when gas lines were popping and whole neighborhoods were being evacuated. The recent quake swarm in central AR. The 3+ quake just off the coast of Mobile AL.

This is going to get worse.

i live in toronto and we had a huge sinkhole last year in the middle of a busy street. And this winter, i seen about 5 small sinkholes and i never seen so many before. The ground is gonna fall and we will fall with it.

also they seem to be fixing the same stretch of road more often now. They just paved it last fall and its cracked to hell ! It has potholes and looks kind of like the roads in detroit. This is not a normal thing!

not that hard, find out which cola companies are taking the ground water, or which gas and oil companies are drilling...not that difficult!

what they are asking themselves, by making the vote public is if these companies are willing to line their pockets? they are just using the media to deliver their message!

That's not as easy to do. Some of us have spouses with jobs that keep us here. As soon as the majority of this state falls off into the Gulf and Atlantic, then those of us still alive will figure out to high tail it the hell out of here.
Till then, we sit and wait for doom.
