Police arrest 11-year-old over 'inappropriate' stick figure drawing
An 11-year-old Arvada boy was arrested and hauled away in handcuffs for drawing stick figures in school - something his therapist told him to do.

His parents say they understand what he did was inappropriate, but are outraged by the way Arvada Police handled the case. The parents did not want their real names used.

we need to be able to sue for the cops and teachers jobs, sueing for tax dollar settlements does nothing.

That's retarded...in the 7th grade our teacher asked us to make a Mother's day card...at that age we weren't about to do it but a friend drew a big heart-person with fangs and a knife in it's hand dripping blood and the card read: I love you Mommy

We all cracked up laughing and the teacher just looked at it and rolled her eyes as she walked away...no principals office and no police...my friend now has a nice family and career...no harm in drawing cartoons...jeez
I never forgive and I never forget

I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked.

As an artist- What the fuck.

I drew all the time on my flippin schoolwork- hell, once in art class I did draw for a project that was somewhat violent in content- aside from perhaps a comment now and again from my teachers about it- WHY?

Flippin police state. So what are we teaching our kids in school now then? Because it sure as hell ain't math and science, and if it isn't allowing them to be creative, either....

How many times do you have to be told folks?

DON'T EVER TALK TO THE POLICE. EVER.

Be polite - give them your name and identification if requested - and shut the fuck up. "Officer I respectfully refuse to answer any questions without my lawyer present. I do not consent to a search of my person. I do not consent to a search of my vehicle. I do not consent to a search of my home."

Memorize it.

Dumb-fuck parents set the kid up for a conviction.
